AFTER UP GRADING MY 5005 SYSTEM WITH 1101 MY RECORDER DOES NOT RECORD.IT KEEPS SEARCHING AND COMES UP WITH INVALID DISK SYSTEM ERRORS BUT IT WILL PLAY DVD MOVIE GREAT

I gather that it operated fine prior to the firmware up-grade and the same DVD disks are being used
That the new firmware was the only file on a CD?R/RW disk [finalized?]
It could be a bad upgrade. Or bad download. At what site did the download come from?
Do you know what firmware was in the unit prior to an up-grade?

How old is the machine
Press Setup. In the top to the right there should be a set of numbers.
Example, 0102-1840-0098-B207-xxxxxx
First set is the series
Second set is the unit version [1840 is usually a 813s] [might be 1140 and a 451s] drive
Third is the firmware version [indicates firmware 0098]
Forth is the DVD drive firmware [B usually indicates a 813s drive

Is the unit hacked?
Did you have a specific reason to go past firmware 0098?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY I BOUGHT THIS 5005 ABOUT A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO EVERY THING WAS FIND I COPY MY TAPE ON TO DVD -R WHEN I READ THE MANUEL THEY SUGGEST LITE ON TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE FROM S/N 0102 1840 0090 B203103 100 010D TO S/N 0102 1840 0101 B20G 103 100 010D WHEN I DOWN LOAD THE FIRMWARE UNZIP IT PUT IT ON A CD THE LITE ON TOOK THE UP GRADE BUT ALL HELL BROKE LOSE IT KEEPS SEARCHING AND IT COME UP WITH A ERROR MESSAGE FAIL DISK ON THE UNIT ON MY TV INVALID DISK IT WILL NOT PLAY THAT I MADE IN THE PASS OR RECORD NEW ONE IT WILL ONLY PLAY LIKE I SAID DVD MOVIE THAT I RENT
I ASK LITE ON FOR HELP BUT GOT A DEAF EAR IF ANY ONE CAN HELP ME

The first numbers given indicate an 1840 unit with firmware 090, drive B203
It did not sound as though you had any problems prior to the upgrade to 1101.
I had acquired a 5005 that had been upgraded to 1112 and it had failed.
I have not gone past 098. Over 098 will not permit a hack. LiteOn has messed with the firmware and I can see no reason to go to 1101 [called 101].

Select the second item [LNFA1098.ES5.0102.184z.zip]
Download and unzip it.
The unzipped file should be [LNFA1098.ES5] a 1902KB ES5 File
This file And ONLY this File should be burned to a NEW Blank CD-R disk
[Again Only this file should be on the disk]

This will install firmware 098 to the 5005
I have two 5005 units with this firmware. Both with hack work fine

THANKS FOR THE INFO 1098 WILL TRY IT TODAY AND I WILL GET BACK TO YOU ON MY DOWN GRADE YOUR RIGHT IT WAS WORKING JUST FIND BEFORE I DECIDED TO UP GRADE TO 1101 BUT I FIGURE LITE-ON HAD A FIX FOR 3 HOURS RECORDING I GUESS I WAS WRONG

I DOWN LOAD THE LNFA1098ESS ,OPEN THE FILE SAVE TO A CD AND PLACE IT IN MY 5005 AND IT TOOK THE THE DOWN GRADE BUT IT STILL WILL NOT RECORD IT IT TRY TO PREPARE THE DISK BUT IT COME UP FAIL INVALID DISK , I TRY A BLANK DVD-R AND DVD +R WITH THE SAME RWESULT. IT WILL PLAY CD JPG PICTURE AND DVD ANY OTHER SUGGESTION I AM OPEN TO ANY EVEN USING A HAMMER TO IT ANY WAY I THANK YOU ALL

The 3hr recording mode is a result of using a hack. Firmware 098 can be hacked, The ability is there, but LiteOn [ to my knowledge ] has not offered a firmware for this unit to enable 3hr. You can hack the 098 as I said before with the site given
I take it that the 098 firmware is in effect and the unit does play CD and commercial DVD disks
Why after a firmware upgrade to 1101 and now a down grade to 098, it will not recognize a DVD +/- disk that you say it did before, eludes me
As I said both the 5005 I have work fine, play or record. [Both had 1101 now have 098]
The DVD could have problems with the laser in recording but I should think it would again recognize the disks as before.

LCSHG I THOUGHT THE SAME ABOUT THE LASERIN RECORDING, BUT WHEN I SAW THE CD PROGRAM ASKING ME IF I WANT TO RECORD VCD OR SVCD . I SAID TO MY SELF I AM DOING A LOT OF THAT LATELY. THE LASER HAS TO BE GOOD IT MUST BE SOFT WARE MAYBE IT NEED A SECOND FIRMWARE OR A GOOD KICK

I TOOK OUT THE DDW 813S DRIVE CLEAN THE LASER AND TEST IT OPEN THE UNIT THAT IS THE GOOD NEWS IT WORK THE BAD NEWS AFTER I PUT IT TOGETHER AND TEST IT ( IT FAIL LIKE BEFORE . SO I IS A DRIVE ISSUE)[img]
