Swapping DVD Drive with Blu-ray Drive?

Hello everyone! Is it possible to crack open your Xbox and swap the DVD drive with a Blu-ray drive? Can't you just disconnect the IDE and power cables from the DVD drive and connect them to the Blu-ray drive? Just a theory... Thanks!

I havent seen any internal Player shots yet - but this theory does require that the BluRay drive uses a standard IDE interface - can anyone confirm that?

No it will not work.... there is something in the original xbox drive that reads the discs differently than a blueray.... for example will your computer cdd read the xbox games? NO

well....actually it might, you couldnt do a straight swap but you could try the method for using a pc dvd drive to read games, you know where you run a molex splitter and unplug the ide from the xbox drive and then use your pc drive to load games as long as there is a REAL game in the xbox drive, it might work, its worth a try, but i dont know why you would do that really...they are quite costly and there wont be much real benefit to it
