Hey Adriana

I have not had problems ripping to HD with AnyDVD, but once it hits the compressor stage in Shrink it bags out, same when I used DVDFab or RIPit4me or Clone (2 and Mobile trials). Must be a bad disk deal.

At any rate it is not the first time an update of AnyDVD has done the crash thing with my compressor/transcoder SW. I sent them the screen shots and hopefully they will be able to tell me what's up with the periodic conflicts on my system. We'll see. I think this was as you said in some far off post of yore...bad disk

kitty66 , are you running the latest verison of CloneDVD 2 ?? which would be 2.9.0.3

cause if you can rip the dvd to the HD with AnyDVD CloneDVD 2 should be able to encode it.

or try uninstalling your software run CCleaner do a disc cleanup and defrag reboot and reinstall the programs

Hey Adriana and Everyone

I finally got this to work. I have no idea why the first disk in the series was such a problem. AnyDVD did not show any encryption differences and failed in the background and ripped to HD. The others copied just fine with Shrink and AnyDVD 6.1.0.7 in the background.

There was still an issue with disk one, even if I only did two episodes at once. The others did all 4 on the DVD just fine?????. So...when Ireland posted the beta release yesterday I downloaded it and tried it this afternoon. The episodes all together still failed, in the background or ripped. Finally it worked when I split it in half and burned to two DVD's. Pain in the...well...you know!

Thanks everyone for all your help, if you have any insight as to why this was happening, let me have it!

Cheers!

kitty66 , weird it didn't work till you split the dvd. i wouldn't have a guess why without looking/doing the backup myself. you might try a Daul-Layer and see if you can backup the complete disc that way. but glad you got it sorted hun.

Adranna and Hun? LOL
Youse guys... ;) AnyDVD, CloneDVD 2... Shrink forum? Well anyway, with it being a Shrink forum and Kitty 66 being a curious type, I have a suggestion. Take a look at the free stuff in the little tutorial I did for RipIt4Me. It's no cost and I'm curious to see if it could make a difference.

Hun
Look for the little how to with all the pictures toward the end of the page. LOL Excuse me for the simplicity of the tutorial, but it was for a different audience. LOL

Hey PacMan777

or should we call you hun...

perhaps shug...

or PacyWackySugerPie?...giggle. ;)

I am using Shrink with AnyDVD. That still counts no? I should have been more specific. Anyhow, I am going to read your guide now. I just downloaded the new ver of RI4M. And yes, I am the curious type, thankfully it has not killed me yet...meow.

Hun,
Hun was reserved for you by none other than the charming and illustrious Adrianna. LOL
You can hook me up to that generator of yours and give me a few volts and call me honeybun sugardaddy if you like. LOL

But getting back to the software. ;) RI4M is sort of the new heir apparent for top freeware in doing backups. I was just wondering if it would help in your case. It even opens the files up in Shrink for you when it's through cleaning up the copy protection.

Now where'd I put that can of cream. LOL kitty, kitty

I am getting 23 amps now full time out of my wheel! Getting the most efficient capacitance helped. If I could wirelessly zap you one I would! I don't mind being called anything as long as it is not derogatory hun seems pretty harmless. Now HEY BI%$# is another thing...lol

Thanks for posting that RI4M guide. I had not known to use the deep analysis function for intensive compression. Good to know, I will try it with my next large episodic DVD.

You'll not catch me using the B word. LOL I'd rather play nice. Can't get free coffee and donuts by trying to act bad. ;)

Sounds like a person could get a good tingle from that little generator of yours. What do you have for a storage system?

You're welcome on the software. Not too long ago there was only a few choices and Shrink was one of them. Software has come a long way the past few years, but the Shrink update a couple years ago made it more useful, and competitive with a lot of retail programs. I've got several retail programs, but I still keep Shrink loaded. There may be another trick or two I could show you, but that's for another thread. ;)

Hola!

@adriana I had been thinking about the dual layers, good to hear someone else mention it. It is on my list for the next trip to town. Any advise on which ones to get?

@Pac I have already turned a couple of saw-3-ers to your guide. I think it was well done. A simple guide is the best kind!

I am storing my power in 16 L16 Deep Cycle Trojan Batteries. Arrrr, arrrr, arrr. More power...

@kitty66

By all means get the Verbatim DL +R discs, and booktype them to DVD-ROMs. With your drive highlighted in DVD Decrypter>Tools> Drive> Change Booktype and see if you brand of burner is listed.

Thanks Garmoon!

I will try the Verbatim ones. I have used their products before and have been quite pleased. I don't like regular TV but am hooked on some TV shows...lol...so we buy alot of LONG episodic DVD's. I am excited to try out the Dual Layer.

As you can see from the thread some of them have been giving me a bit o' poop.

You know I was considering online...I'll try supermediastore.com. Looks like a good site. Thanks.

I may have to go to town this time though, I am feeling impatient. We still have a few feet of snow and no one will go up the roads but the locals. My last few UPS packages have had to be picked up at the nearest store (20 miles away through the mountains). And...that is where the Post Office is too. No way they will deliver to my house either. Only UPS and not in the snow.

The UPS guy sure hates it when I order online...lol...but I LOVE IT.

Hola Senorita Kitty, ¿qué tal?

Sounds like a good storage system. Did you splurge and get the HC models? If you handled those all by yourself, I'm not going to arm wrestle you for the drinks. LOL

Thanks for the compliment on the little tutorial.

BTW, on that guide there's a few things to improve it. For instance getting Shrink to support ImgBurn automatically. The ImgBurn can control burn speed and DVDD doesn't. If those were friends I can help out if they're using the whole free process. The "how to" can usually be found by googling though.

Shoots!

I went to burn Angel S2D1 and that one crashed the computer in Shrink W/ AnyDVD 6.1.1.3 in the background on the Deep Analysis part. It keeps crashing before I can get a ---- (explatives deleted) log...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I am trying it now through Ripit4me. 88% now. I hope it finishes soon. I am tired of "typing" on the ipaq.

This kind of thing is driving me crazy, what does my computer have against vampires anyhow!!!!!!!!

@PacMan777 - I did splurge for the H series. And OH NO I did not move them myself...I have cabana boys for that shi#!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those things weigh a TON.

The people I turned to your guide were not friends. Just some newbies that needed to read a guide that was not embedded in 8 million pages! So I quoted it for a few. Hope that was ok.

@aabbccdd/Adriana - Well I may to have to order those Verbatim's online. The silly podukaville town closest to us did not have them. Grrr. I am going to Portland next weekend cause Cabana Boy#1 has a Show so I will look there too.

kitty66 , good luck sweetie hope it works this time . you might try transcoding/burning it on a desktop PC instead of a laptop and see what happens.

good luck on the Verbatim DVD+R DL if you don't find them in town go with supermediastore or meritline which ever has the best price. usally there 38.99 for the 20 pack shipped from either or

LOL I feel sorry for for your cabana boys. Those batteries weigh about 130 pounds each. That's why I said I wouldn't arm wrestle with you, if you are into moving loads like that. ;) I'd think about getting a brawny cabana girl for work like that.

As for the tutorial, if you find it useful go ahead and use the material any way you like. I don't think there's anything original about it. It's just my spin on how to get the beginners up and running with the software.

BTW, it sounds like your laptop doesn't have the resources to run both AnyDVD and Shrink. The RI4M does one job at a time, making it easier on PCs with less memory. What model PC do you have, how much RAM, CPU type and speed, and what OS? aabbccdd is right about desktops, they're better suited for the loads involved with doing DVD backups.

What's the penalty for saying use DVDFab Decrypter and RI4M on a slysoft funded forum? LOL

Seriously though, what is there to solving Slysoft problems other than waiting for support to get the software updated? ;)

Hey PacMan777 & aabbccdd

Unfortunately I do not have the option of burning on my desktop. I donated that hunk o' junk to Cabana Boy#1 cause it has no burner. I may have to buy a new box. I am not sure what the issue is.

AnyDVD and Shrink were running fine together for some titles. AND before the slysoft updates in November I had NO ISSUES FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS. So, I waited I updated and POOP. I have still been able to use it but only on some titles.

So when I ripped last night to HD from AnyDVD and used Shrink it still crashed. It also crashed in Shrink after Ripit4me last night. I ran it through DVDFab 3.0.7.0 this am and will try it on Shrink again now. POOP-OLA. I bought AntBully in town yesterday and have that one to do too.

Let me add: did cleaner, cleanup, and defrag before this session. Have 34G free space. HP Pavillion dv1000, WinXPhome sp2 2000, 1.60GHz, 590Mhz, 504MB ram.

I just don't GET IT. There are such weird consistency issues with backups for me lately.

@aabbccdd - I am going to try that slysoft forum. Hopefully someone else there is having these problems. I trust AD though. I have always been given good information.

@PacMan777 - Let's see I totally advise Cabana Boys/Girls to everyone! Get yourself some cute brawn to handle the heavy lifting. Sure makes life easier. (Find one that is not a musician...they always want time off for shows and stuff!) But don't feel sorry for them. They love their jobs and are very spoiled (espically #1 who loves to tell people that Cabana Boy is his day job...lol...good thing his band makes money!)

Kitty i would say try doing an uninstall and a clean reinstall but you just reformatted right? so do this just use CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD running in the background doing the movie only on thoses hard to do titles and see if that gets though it

kitty laptop are fickle the crashing may be caused to the CPU overheating or power supply problems from transcoding the dvds

I have not purchased Clone yet. It's trial expired before I could ever get it to work. I am still debating whether to buy it now or not. I have filled out the order form twice only to cancel it thinking...another 40 bucks...and do I know if it will work????????? If I knew it was going to work I would buy it in a second.

I have to think for a little while about how much my curiosity is worth? So far 78% no problems with AnyDVD uninstalled and cleaned off. I love this program I want it to work. I am posting to the forum you showed us too. This is becoming quite a thread! I very much appreciate you taking your time to help (and you too PacMan77), especially when it keeps DRAGGING ON like this. (Can you tell this is bumming me out?)

I use a cooling pad on the laptop and my power is from the inverter. Very consistent pure sign wave power. I only do the rips when I am plugged in. Am I just f'in doomed??????????
