Question about DVD9/Dual Layer DVDs

Since my DVD drive can read and write Dual Layer DVDs, can I do straight rips using DVD Decrpytor onto Dual Layer DVDs? Or would the game not work?

And are Varbatim Dual Layer DVD's good media? I was thinking of buying this:

What method are you using to play your backups? If you have a modchip that has dual-layer support, then yes. Otherwise if you are using a swap method a la Swap Magic, then no (you will have to find a ripkit to fit it on a DVD5).
