can i use Samsung SH-W162 instead of SH-162C ?

Hi Guys ,I've been going crazy looking for the Samsung SH-D162C in the local shops , i finally tracked down a Samsung SH-W162 , now i'd like to know if the SH-W162 does the same thing as the SH-D162 ,

the only drives i know about are the IDE version Samsung SH-D162C
The SATA version Samsung SH-D163A
and the Samsung TS-H352C
The reason you can not find the SH-162C in stores is because Samsung no longer makes them, so once they are sold out on Ebay and such, they are gone.

All of which you can find on Ebay if your willing to pay the price.
They range between about $60 and $100 (adding in shipping)
a guide for flashing them mentions that it has to be the 162C version

Sorry, you will not be able to flash the SH-W162 dive.

Samsung SH-W162 has different firmware than SH-D162C therefore you will not be able to flash the kreon firmware on it.

yes the sata samsung is SH-D163a

Samsung just released another batch begin of January
