We have the VT6421A . Many people have used it successfully mod their XBOX 360 with it. For XBOX 360 users, this card is similar to the VT6421L (6421L). The only difference is that MTKFlash also needs the port I/O?s hexedited as well.

I think I have everything needed to flash my toshiba samsung TS-H943 with ms-28 firmware. I'm just wondering when selecting the hacked firmware using xtremebootmaker what one to use 5.2a, b, c or d. What is the difference between them?

OK! Thanks. I thought the text was full of update history for the firmware.
I tried using extreme 5.2b, formatted my floppy disc using extremebootmaker, disconnected all IDE drives except my A drive, rebooted my pc to DOS and turned the xbox360 on and connected the sata cable.
Typed in SAMREAD 1234567 12345 (my serial of course) and hit enter.
This is what happened:
A:\>SAMREAD 1234567 12345
Directory already exists
MTKFLASH by joseph lin, MTIC 1998 (ver 1.83)
please wait...
No drive detected
original firmware from xbox 360: backups\1234567\12345\orig.bin
master copy of hacked firmware: samsung\xtreme.bin
new hacked firmware for xbox 360: backups\1234567\12345\hacked.bin
Backups\1234567\12345\orig.bin not found - aborting!
Anyone know where I went wrong? I followed the textbook tutorial.
Any help greatly appreciated!!

False alarm boys!
I changed the sata cable port in my pc and left the hard drive IDE cable plugged in and all is sweet. I just need to go and test it.

Well if you need someone to flash it, PM me. But no, updates to firmware only need to happen if you desire a feature that's a part of the newer firmware. Besides, with Samsung and Hitachi drives, firmware has all but stopped since the new BENQ drive hit. The 0079FK Hitachi is cracked but not publicly and the BENQ has all the master firmware hackers working on it.
Basically, 5.2 for Samsungs and 2.3 OPA for Hitachi's are going to last you a while.

I am ready to backup games now and was reading the tutorial which states you need to burn the 800mode iso to disc. Does this still stand or has the latest firmware dropped this step?

if you dont want to use your pc drive and you dont own the samsung d-162c drive or whatever it is, you need to burn the 0800 iso and have windows detect your drive if you want to make backups, if not then you dont need that iso burned

I've now burned the enable800.iso to DL disc turned both 360 and PC off. Inserted the sata cable to the smasung 360 drive powered the 360 up and inserted the 800.iso disc and let in run for half a minute. Ejected the disc and turned on my PC. Now for some frustrating reason my PC locks up on the Windows symbol screen and does nothing. Anyone know what would cause this?

I seemed to have resolved my issue with the sata card by downloading the latest driver from Via website. Now the xbox 360 is recognised by windowsxp. I seem to be getting an error when using xbox backup creator when hitting start extraction button "Unable to determine the current visible partition". Can someone please point me in the right direction? I've searched everywhere for the answer.

HI okay so i did everything you said in your information, and it shows me the list, and then i typed in the mtkflash hacked command. Then it does this usually with my other methods of flashing the driver. Right after it says "ERR:- Fail to read input file" I already added in the x52.a file that i made in the make mtkflash program, and copied it to the floopy disk with my orig.bin file already placed. But still get the same error messege. Can you PLEASE help me out, i been strressing over this for weeks now
