binkie7,
Both of those movies really are not that hard to do. That is why I did it everyway I could think of that was was at least mostly free. Forgot to add that I also did it w/ AnyDVD and CloneDVD. LOL

@Blink and Car - Hey! I live in the boonies I haven't gotten either one of them yet, no thrills, everything is already detailed out for me!!! Looks like I am going to have to do them both as the cabana boy wants S3, blech and I want OpenSeason! Anyhow, I was just going to use the RipIt4Me method that has been proven over and over here, but I am an owner of Any so it makes me curious.

I am still very vague with Vob Blanker. What is this going to do that separates it from FixVTS?? I have an idea but again like I said...vauge...AND do I use them both for files ripped w/decrypter w/anydriver?

AND...would ripit4me performance be enhanced if the files were run through with Any in background...and...Should these then be put through VobBlanker or is that included somehow in ripit.

AND...could I have any more questions in one post? I am trying to conserve post numbers...lol... questions all the time...Hi Blink, Thanks you two.

AND...Mods, should this be a sticky soon?

OPEN SEASON SAW 3These movies I've had problems with. my usual is AnyDVD shrink n decrypter but these movies made me crazy but only until I read the threads in afterdawn. well to the newbies I have used Pgc edit and if you don't follow it correctly then its a nightmare. I have read about ripit4me for sometime in this thread so today I finally decided to try it, WOW! talk about having a bad day turn into a good one! well I used the ripit4me installer and bam! it installed ripit4me and fixvts. Well I used the wizard and didn't skip any steps(you need shrink and DVD Decrypter installed)and butt a Bing I have a near perfect copy(because its shrunk at 61% and not a full 100% copy but who cares not me) I want to say thanks to alkohol for the great advice and also aabbccdd you guys are great. this thread is great. so until Slysoft pulls their wits together and gets it so AnyDVD n shrink work on these kinds of movies hello ripit4me its a little slow but hey you got a backup!

P.S. just got done watching my backup of open season, perfect great menus no artifacts skipping etc. thanks again afterdawn.com and to the newbies read these post's 90% of the time the answer is here just look.

kitty66,
VobBlanker is the Big Brother of FixVTS as you can do more w/ it. Do not use AnyDVD when you are using Ripit4Me as it probably will cause a big screwup.
Ripit4Me was made to use FixVTS so you would be wasting your time using VobBlanker.
The funny thing is Ripit4Me had both movies done about 2 weeks before Slysoft. Maybe James was on vacation. LOL

Hey kitty66
Just to add to Car.Mike's post - w/ VobBlanker you can also blank out the unwanted stuff - like warnings, special features etc.

I play with VobBlanker cause I like to delete the stuff I don't want but tend to use CloneDVD more cause you just uncheck what you don't want.

Oh you have to watch the Saw movies - gory yes but have a twist to them.

I think I read today that he (James) still does not have a copy of S3 R1?? I mean that was as of today? There are alot of rabid slysofters out there that just cant believe ripit will do it, and did it before!

Thanks for the heads up on Any with Ripit. And...I thought I saw ripit doing its own little VOB dance. Thanks again.

Well I'm not defending Slysoft but they have advertised for awhile that AnyDVD works best w/ CloneDVD and it does. I didn't have the problems w/ Saw3 once they had 6.1.1.1 - early versions did movie only though.

It's worked w/ Shrink for so long that people expect it too - again not defending Slysoft but they have done version releases before to fix problems it has w/ Shrink even though that's not their program.

But no copy of Saw 3 yet - come on now. I'll overnight them one.

@Blink - Eeewwwwwww, I can't go there. And I'm into trauma (nurse), but there is no way I want to watch that stuff happen, live or recreated. Give it to me after the fact to fix...that's what I like :)

Thanks, so Clone lets you uncheck it all, that's cool. My vers expired way back when before I ever got it working (some bad slysoft updates for me). I haven't bought it because I have not been able to play with it.

lol - gotcha on the saw - lots of people in those movies need fixing :)

Yeah that's why I end up using Clone more now (if I can keep the compression low) - too easy to uncheck what you don't want.
Recreates a new dvd w/o all the stuff I don't want.

OK folks, I'm back and yes I can confirmed that DVDFab Decrypter 3070 worked. You guys might want to try the latest DVDFab Decrypter 3072 if you like and I'm confident that it'll rip OPEN SEASON flawlessly as always.

Again, since I'm sucha VobBlanker-holic and plus my son enjoyed this movie, I deleted 2 unwanted menus inside VTS_01_*.VOB, completely blanked out VIDEO_TS.VOB (this is the stupid Sony's logo, plus few annoying FBI Warnings), VTS_10 -> VTS_13 are junks (Previews/Trailers) so I blanked 'em all, plus I deleted tons of useless VTS junks (VTS_17 -> VTS_84) these are purely small junks.

NOTE: don't delete/blank 'em if you've never done so, unless you know what you're doing/looking for (advanced user).

Here's a mini/basic DVDFab + Recode guide

Now insert the original DVD (OPEN SEASON) into DVD burner or DVD-ROM drive.

Click START to rip when ready (or once you've located your Target folder).

Best of luck to all and happy burning!!!

New guy here.

I am always after the easiest way of doing things. With that said, here is how I ripped/burned and entire DVD of Open Season.

I ripped Open Season using last weeks version (the S3 version) of DVDFab Decrypter and dumped it in Shrink. It crapped out on me at the 88% mark. I deleted all my files, downloaded this weeeks version of DVDFab Decrypter, ripped it again, dumped it back into Shrink and it worked perfect. Does this sound right? Would there be new program code in the new version of DVDFab Decrypter that would allow programs like Shrink to do there thing without crapping out?

Thoughts?

As posted earlier, I also took the route:

Ripped the whole movie with DVDDecrypter / AnyDVD running.
Clean with VOBlanker (Process All).
Ripped just the movie with DVDShrink.
Burned with Nero 6.

Open season was no problem for me. I used Ripit4me to write to my hd and fixvts afterwards. Next i ran these processed files through Vob Blanker. Finally, i opened the finished files with dvdshrink and burned with imgburn, menus and all.

Again, since I'm sucha VobBlanker-holic, I processed and edited (blanked and deleted) all of my already ripped backups through VobBlanker, simply because I despise any useless junks, unwanted VTS, FBI Warnings, Previews/Trailers, etc.

Most of the times, you shouldn't have to use VobBlanker or FixVTS after DVDFab Decrypter has successfully ripped. However in some cases (any Sony or Lions gate) movies, you'll need to process through FixVTS or VobBlanker, you can even delete/blank out unwanted junks via the menu or other useless VTS to prevent your backup from looping. However, the choice is yours.

Best of luck!!

Yes that can be right - there may have been some bug/conflict w/ something in the earlier version and your pc that this new version fixed.
Always best to keep these programs updated.

You're welcome, glad I could help. RI4M is as great as DVDFab Decrypter, the only reason I prefer to rip with DVDFab is simply because it's faster that's all.

Best of luck!!

Thanks for all your suggestions and help. As usual, you are on top of things which makes it so much easier for those of us who are still feeling around for the answers. I was interested in your response (Alkohol). I have used VobBlanker at times with excellent success. However, how do you know which segments to eliminate (such as Sony logo) and other sections you wish to take off your movie? I have always wondered how to figure this out???

I ran into the same problems with the same two DVD rips. But in my case the answer came in the form of DVDFab Decrypter v3.0.7.0 which ripped both discs perfectly. After ripping, I ran both through DVDReMake Pro in order to take out all the previews, FBI nags, other special features and to remove all unnecessary buttons. The only other thing I had to do was to rewrite one post command in Open Season in order to get the flow to return to the main menu at the completion of the disc. For these 'tough' rips, DVDFab Decrypter is a real 'lifesaver'. Thanks to those who suggested its use.

As stated by Car.Mike, you simply click on any VTS and VobBlanker will show you what it is, if it's something you don't want to keep, then simply "blank or delete" them out. Sometimes, you gotta double click on the/any VTS or VIDEO_TS.VOB and play 'em to see what's in there as well.

Now let's use OPEN SEASON for this example.

NOTE: not all movies are the same, so you'll need to do a little hunting, but once you've mastered all the techniques it's all piece of cake.

* once you've imported your already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO from hard drive
* click on VIDEO_TS.VOB (this is the very first TitleSet)
* you'll see the stupid Sony's logo and those annoying FBI Warnings
* now we can't "blank or delete" them on this page, so here's what to do when you encountered something similar like this that you don't want to keep them.

(1) double click on VIDEO_TS.VOB <----- remember this is example for OPEN SEASON.
Now under Menu of VIDEO_TS, there's "Language Units" and there are "31 PGCs" that has "15MB." Ok so we don't want any of these junks right? Absolutely no... we don't want them cause they're useless FBI Warnings and Sony Logo only.

(2) now highlight or put your mouse arrow and click on "31 or 15MB" and you'll see there are 31PGCs under "Menu PGCs" now.

(3) use the "slidebar or arrow" to go down until you see an amount or some KB on both "Ini Size & End Size"

(4) then highlight the very first PGC with any KB, now HOLD SHIFT and arrow down until you have all of them highlighted.

(5) simply click "Delete," then OK. You'll notice the size has changes the second you click OK. Now Exit out and you should be back on the front page.

That's it!! it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Here's my very basic VobBlanker guide for newbies http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/1481
