Only certain games work ....why?

I modded a friends xbox but only certain games work , and i know the games(disk) work. I can't figure out why the games dont work. The games will freeze as soon as loading a new profile is complete. xbox version 1.2 Other than that the mod works fine. I tried differnt hard drives and i get the same result , any ideas

i figured it out , my xbox dash was too old , so i uninstalled the mod , connected to xbox live to get the latest dash then remodded it works perfect now .. (:
