the problem with the nyko cooler is that it consumes a huge amount strait from your main power supply
however gamestops model only takes from the usb, a usb's power limit is 2.5 watts, which a 360 controllor maxes out, so its safe to assume game stops counter part is safe:}

============================

one thing to understand is that many people complain and say the fan isn't powerful enough......not true, by fitting it on the bottom of your 360 the fan opens up another vent that would be blocked, see there is no way to allow all the 360's vents to be opened at once because one side will always be on the floor (a.k.a blocked), so the fan speed up the air current and helps the internal fan by opening another vent

btw:would it be okay to take the cover off the heat sink in my 360??
Sazy- to be honest the only safe one is the gamestop version!

Does the GameStop version work laying horizontally? I see that it pushes air from the "Bottom" of the unit (When placed vertically).

please dont just post to post, the 360 was made to played both ways,

Sazy- this is important if you want to run it horizontally the the 360 will play on a slant, this WILL cause trouble but you can just but a slab (piece) of would or something on the other end (dont block the little holes!) to balance it out so it plays on a flat angle (surface)!

Im gonna try the Pelican before I try anything else.

It has a VGA adapter and with my room being on the floor above my computer and not having WiFi I can just switch the VGA from my LCD and the ethernet from my box and boom Im online, otherwise Id have to get a M$ VGA adapter and the GS Cooler which would be at least 60$. And Im kinda tight on cash (As you couldn't tell me not having WiFi)

But if Pelican is crap Ill get the GS Cooler.

No, just saying you would be fine because you don't have to worry about compromising your video quality! Sorry if I can off that way! :)

Review of Pelican Aro Flow Max (Or Pelican Pro)

Includes
-4 port USB Hub
-Multi A/V output (Composite, Componet, VGA, S-VIDEO)
-Ethernet Passthrough
-2 60mm fans (Estimate guess)

Review of:

-2 60mm fans
Slow RPM but is defenitaly a plus in pushing hot air out of the back of the unit, powered VIA USB.

-Ethernet Passthrough
Haven't tested as of yet, assumes it works.

-4 Port USB Hub
Not a fan of it. I cant start the unit with a wired controller when plugged into the hub in any of the four ports.(For that matter even after the unit is turned on by the R.O.L. it doesn't recognize the controller) But I left my iPod plugged into it over night (360 was turned off) and to my surprise it said it was fully charged the next morning.

-Multi AV Output
This is where the unit shines. It has what I consider the 4 major AV output types in the industry right now. They all work beautifully and it comes with a set of componet cables too.

Final thought.
This unit is only worth buying for the multiple AV outputs and the extra cooling, the other features are kinda what I think is gimmicky. For 15$ it allows you to save a ton of money (VGA adapter by M$ is 40$ alone)

Score 5/10

same EXACT thing happened to me.. Looking at the pictures at the begginning of this post, its the same top 3 plugs too.. Completly ruined my system cause it melted into the back of the Xbox360.. My best advice for people who will still continue to use this product.... Remove it and clean everything off at LEAST once a week.. The best cooling system that ive found is to get the fan that goes underneith your system BUT keep your system sideways.. (I know it looks really stupid with the fan on the bottom with the system sideways, but this way it will acctually suck air into the bottom and blow it out the back like ITS SUPPOSED TO !!) But honestly, you shouldnt use the nyko intercooler at all, not sure about the EX though..
And reguardless of fans or not, keep your system sideways no matter what.. I read in a magazine and did alot of research on the subject. When its sitting straight up your acctually blocking 40% of the airflow going into the bottom of the system.. If its sideways theres nothing at all blocking your air from being sucked in..

Oh and just to touch this up just incase anybody is wondering.. Most fans for underneith of the system have those dumb remote holders or game case holders on the sides.. Which would obviously prevent you from keeping your system sideways. It took me a while but I found one that has nothing on the sides. I baught it from GameStop. It came in a kit with the fan, a portible battary charger, controller skin, 2 system skins and a disc repair kit all for $15

Its the best way Ive found to keep your system from overheating without any modifications. For modded systems, if you can afford it. There will be liquid cooling systems for the xbox 360 cpu avalable shortly.

1 more thing, if you have the nyko intercooler and it hasnt been removed and cleaned in a while. Theres a possibility that when you try to remove it, it will be stuck. (Already melted into your system) Now this decision is up to you.... If its stuck on there and you pull it off, your system will most likely not work any more.. Thats what happened with mine and I pulled it off real hard and put my ac adaptor into the back without the intercooler on and it wouldnt work AT ALL.. NO POWER.. But I also didnt really care cause I had baught my system from Sam's Club (Not sure on all sams clubs, but mine lets u exchange your system if its broken, and i dont even think they check serial numbers either to tell u the truth) But if its stuck and you dont have a warranty.. Definatly give it a thought before you pull it off.. Im not telling you not to and im not telling you to. Im just saying.. Think about it 1st

for those who are still experiencing heat problems, i would suggest rbjtech's fan shroud mod LINK. i did it to my brother's falcon 360, and it's been keeping the system cool; all of rbjtech's results is what i'm getting.

also, i've installed some computer ram sinks (all copper) to the ram and hana chips. THESE are the ramsinks i used. can be found at some radioshacks.

i'll probably get the psyclone fan stand, for the green light, and to hold the 360 in place.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Do the copper sinks fit with everything put back into place, though?

Also, I thought the falcolns don't have heat issues...

i did the fan shroud mod for insurance. and it's been helpful, as the fans are expelling warm/hot air. highly recommended.

as for the ramsinks, i've only applied it to any bare chips. they fit perfectly on the ram, as they are square, but i've only applied to the top of the motherboard. i've yet to apply them to the bottom part; clearance may be a problem,.

with the new falcons, the new heatsink and heatpipe interferes with one ramchip. you can still fit a ramsink, but it will not be exactly on top of the ramchip. possibly modding the heatpipe will allow full contact of the ramsink.

EDIT: just bought the psyclone stand. all clear, with a green EL rope. not as bright as i thought (which is good). also, controller sidemounts are optional; a big plus. fan is very quiet, and is pushing a good amount of air.

is anyone using the intercooler EX model? i'm trying to find reviews about it, but since the original one made a bad impact, everyone practically stopped.

No the elites suffer from the flawed design too, only they tried to patch it at least it has a lower fail rate that the standard but not worth the extra price..

So what did skyrift mean about putting the new CPUs in the 360s?

I just got this used Elite from someone last week and he said he bought it in Nov 2007. I was thinking of modding it (seems to be a BenQ drive), and also wanted to know what else I should be checking... some people asked him if it was a Falcon... I didn't know there were diff types, if you could enlighten me? :)

MS has been upgrading the systems to make them cheaper to build they also have been slowly redesigning it.

I can't be sure but if it has HDMI it should have the newer CPU,but like I said it only halves the 30% fail rate.

So how do I know if the Xbox 360 Arcade that I bought for my brother and the Xbox 360 Elite that I bought for myself are FALCONS or not? =/

I still have an Xbox 360 Premium too... Actually I had two of them but one died. That's why I bought the Arcade to give to my bro and I bought an Elite so I can give the other premium to my OTHER bro.

Long story, but right now I have a modded premium, an unmodded arcade, and an unmodded Elite. I dunno if I should risk modding my Elite b/c I've lost a premium to the 3RLOD (I tried everything to repair and failed).

the RROD thing is part of the 30% fail rate the 360 has, MS has tried to fix it but its a core design flaw and they have yet to fully fix it.

So no matter what you do it has a high chance of RROD, so weigh mod vrs getting it fixed when it fails through MS.

I have a bunch of hardware sitting around from when I wanted to watercool my 360. I still have most of the hardware I'll need. I'm thinking of doing it only if I truly need to and if I'm modding my 360, might as well make sure it will never overheat since I'll have no warranty... but I'm curious if it's a falcon and just wanna know how to check. :) Thx.
