one thing to understand is that many people complain and say the fan isn't powerful enough......not true, by fitting it on the bottom of your 360 the fan opens up another vent that would be blocked, see there is no way to allow all the 360's vents to be opened at once because one side will always be on the floor (a.k.a blocked), so the fan speed up the air current and helps the internal fan by opening another vent


btw:would it be okay to take the cover off the heat sink in my 360??

I just got this used Elite from someone last week and he said he bought it in Nov 2007. I was thinking of modding it (seems to be a BenQ drive), and also wanted to know what else I should be checking... some people asked him if it was a Falcon... I didn't know there were diff types, if you could enlighten me? :)

MS has been upgrading the systems to make them cheaper to build they also have been slowly redesigning it.

I still have an Xbox 360 Premium too... Actually I had two of them but one died. That's why I bought the Arcade to give to my bro and I bought an Elite so I can give the other premium to my OTHER bro.

Long story, but right now I have a modded premium, an unmodded arcade, and an unmodded Elite. I dunno if I should risk modding my Elite b/c I've lost a premium to the 3RLOD (I tried everything to repair and failed).

the RROD thing is part of the 30% fail rate the 360 has, MS has tried to fix it but its a core design flaw and they have yet to fully fix it.

So no matter what you do it has a high chance of RROD, so weigh mod vrs getting it fixed when it fails through MS.

So how can I tell if it's Falcon?

I have a bunch of hardware sitting around from when I wanted to watercool my 360. I still have most of the hardware I'll need. I'm thinking of doing it only if I truly need to and if I'm modding my 360, might as well make sure it will never overheat since I'll have no warranty... but I'm curious if it's a falcon and just wanna know how to check. :) Thx.
