for anyone curious i did what the guide said:

Used RipIt4Me, untill it made it to the shrink stage,

Then i Opened the file Rip It4Me Saved With DVDFab. Platinum, and used the Main Movie method and ran it through,

Shrunk that file w/ Shrink

Then I burned It w/ ImgBurn..

Now i have a Back Up of Saw III.

Could you please be a little more specific about how to do this??

Do you do 1-Click or Wizard in Ripit4Me??

Also what do you mean Opened File RipIt4Me Saved with DVD Fab??

I get to the point where DVD Shrink opens and then I am lost...

This is what I Did...

Opened Ripit4Me

Clicked 1-Click

It asked me where the FixVTS is so I located it...It did its thing...

Then it Opened DVD Decrypter and did its thing...

and then it opened DVD Shrink with three files...Main Movie, Menus, and Extras...

Then I am lost...I tried to copy FULL Disc but it told me the disc wasn't big enough because its like 7.6 GB's...

Please Help

In preferences in RipIt4Me check your path for FixVTS. Makes sure it's set to where you have FixVTS saved.

In Shrink uncheck the audios - just leave 5.1 audio.

I used AnyDVD and DVD clone. All you have to do is go into the preview panes and there are I think 4 or 5 that when you click on it gives a blank screen. Just unclick these and move on. I know it was 1, 15, 16, 17 and there were I think 2 more.

If you're having problems with RipIt4Me or you can't get your Saw III backup take a look at the little tutorial on page 16 of the big Saw III thread.

If it's that much work, why not do it with RipIt4Me? Slysoft will eventually catch up, but till they do everyone can use the free software to get the job done. ;) With RI4M all a person needs to do is set it to 1-Click and pull the trigger. ;)

lol - takes less than 1 minute to uncheck these - then depending on the pc maybe 20-25 mins totally time.

Plus I usually blank out all the stuff I don't want.

edit: 20-25 mins meant encoding to finished burned disc.

It's easier to just use the movie only and preserve menus option in CloneDVD 2.

I guess everyone should study up and know all the features of their software, but it doesn't usually happen that way. I did the edit with CloneDVD 2 a couple of days ago to see how hard it would be. Actually it was easy, not as fast as 1 minute though. That was before everyone started posting which item to uncheck. The Preview feature points out the bad sectors and then it's just a matter of not having them selected. A user doesn't really need someone giving them the bad "list" to uncheck if they know how to use the software.

More than a minute but less than five. LOL Still, it's easier to set Full DVD or whatever and let the 1-Click run with RI4M. I own all the software we've been talking about and I'm not making any calls on what's best or not. Just RI4M is working better at present with the Saw 3 release. I've been using AnyDVD all along and will continue to do so, unless they stay behind too long. RI4M currently has slysoft beat. I'm not throwing out my retail software just yet though. LOL

Just my preference :)
I do this with most of the dvd's I back up not just Saw 3. I find the special features I want (the autoplay of them is nice) and uncheck the rest.
So for me it doesn't take long at all. I can tell by the times what the are usually.
Still needs alot of compression then vobblaker and Recode to get rid of the junk I don't want. That takes me longer.

But already having what to uncheck to get the full movie for Saw 3 shouldn't take more than a minute :)

But yeah I too tend to play w/ free and pay stuff.

Hey I'm all about what ever works and you like go for it.
We all have our preferences.

There is a way to burn just the main movie. I had discovered this after about a couple of hours of messing around. If you have time and and really want to be able to burn the movie you need 4 peaces of software. You first need to have ripit4me and DVD Decrypter. Open up ripit4me and select the movie path and destination. You are going to need to transfer the psl to DVD Decrypter, ripit4me will automatically ask you this. Then start the ripping proccess. DVD Decrypter will autostart and will take about 20 minutes. Once it finishes use DVDfab decrypter to open up the movie that was saved to your hard drive. Select Main movie only. Once DVDfab decrpter is done. Open the file with DVD Shrink to make the ISO image. After that you can burn the movie with Nero, which I prefer. I hope this helps everyone who is a saw fan. Good day.

That's covered in detail on the thread Gwendolin mentioned being srickied. In fact there is a little illustrated tutorial on page 16 that goes over the installatation, procesing with RipIt4Me and doing a trancode and burn with Shrink.

AnyDVD can already be used with other software to do a backup of Saw 3. It's just not totally trouble free as it normally is. Check the stickied Saw 3 thread. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/447636
By the way I can assure you that a lot of people are getting a Full DVD backup using RipIt4Me and I didn also did a full backup with AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 using the Preview function to weed out the bad sections. Others have done it and posted what to leave unchecked in CloneDVD. It's all in the thread ddp stickied. Pay close attention to page 16.

Some users may still be having problems with RipIt4Me if they are using Win98. Update to version 1.6.6

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

That was fast, they went through 1650 real fast. I did the Saw III Full DVD with the 1640 without a problem. But I hear others didn't do as well.
