Perhaps it's a fake stick? You'll lose size after formatting, but it shouldn't be over 25% of the pre-formatted size.

Thanks for your answers.. I picked up off another forum that it is a fake.. Ebay power seller too that has 100% feedback and who has sold memory sticks before.. Interesting..

One tip is that if you look the package, original ones have many long heat seals on the sides and on the top and fake ones have only about three round glue seals on each side. Another tip is, when you search for memory sticks on ebay add the word "genuine", "authentic" or "original".

A few weeks ago at newegg.com, they were making rebate on 2gb sandisk memory sticks. I paid about $43 with mail in rebate and shipping. It's the cheapest place where you can get so it's good checking the site occasionally. Here is another auction where is selling at cheap price so better be quick before someone else buys it

i was looking through ebay for memory stick too and i find the 4 gb very cheap. too cheap to be true. thank the lord i didn't buy one. it's very tempting though because the price is too damn low for a 4 gb memory stick.

A little late posting back, but I was interested what the verdict was on this. I think a lot of buyers don't even realize there are fake sticks out there. That's why I'd only buy one from a real store or a reputable site. Even Best Buy has them now for just over $100.

I'm pretty sure a big chain like Best Buy wouldn't be selling fake memory sticks.

i honestly hope so, but why doesn't say that is official
when we see the word compatible next to a memory stick in ebay we know that is fake
i hope i'm wrong
