Does the speed at which you read PS2 games influence its gameplay quality (excluding all other factors such as media, burn speed, etc.)? For example, I use DVD Decrypter and read my games at 4x, yet some of them stutter during gameplay, namely cutscenes. I use TY disks and everything else is fine. If I read the games at 2x, would it make a difference? 8x?

read them at the slowest speed you can. Burn them at 4X on an 8X DVD
I have done about, well too many to mention, games with DVD Decrypter and that is what i usually did.
Downloads present a whole different problem. Most good sites you will not have a problem with, but some others you may. It is all in how good the uploader was with those.
