Starview channels not working

Hi i bought a box of ebay, the guy who i bought it off has been a great help with talking me through setting up. However today the channels have gone off. I try to rescan and reset the factory but when i do this it comes up with a message saying new updates and counts up in percentages, when it gets to 30% it freezes and starts again. Can anyone adise? Also the RS32 cable i got in the box, i cannot get to fit into my PC, nor any other pc i can gain access to. There is a female and a male part to it, but it seems i need to males. i am confused. Can somebody help?Thanks

Yes, The CC' changed the keys and the 258 fix doesn't have them the 257 file dated 26.01.2007 does. I understand the 258 file was a temporary fix for the 257 file.

Hi, Just got my Starview and it's all good. Can someone tell me why updates are needed and how often will one come out? Just a heads up for myself.

Updates are needed because the CC's change the encryption keys to prevent your box from working. Only the CC will know how often they need to be updated, so you will have to wait and see like the rest of us.

why rob people?
some people these days are just wrong the software is freely available without having to pay
i may be new here but people on here like to help other people and do no appriciate there information, links and software being sold

CC's are the Companies that provide your Cable...
Just as aside, I've joined simmply to thank Fekker for his work. My box has been down for almost exactly.... 25 minutes, thanks to you.
Good work.
Also, while I'm here, how likely is it that my CC will know about my Starview? I moved into a house where the previous owner had CTV but there was no box. I borrowed a box from a mate and could see the freeview channels. So I bought a Starview and it's all good. The wifes a bit paranoid about knocks on the door... is she right to be?
