Hey, I've modded my Samsung drive before, so my sata works, so it can't be that. I'm trying to flash my friend's hitachi drive and 360 firmware toolbox 3 can dump firmware, but when I do a checksum validation on the firmware, it says it doesn't match. Ive retried putting it back to mode b and starting all over and its still doing it. ANYONE, do you have any idea what's going on?

Are you trying to flash a 0078? If so, then you need to use firmware toolbox 3 like you are doing. If any other model
then extract opa 2.3 stealth rev 2 to the c:\ drive
click start, run and type in cmd.exe
in dos type
cd\
c:
flash 23s.bat "x" 1234
where X is the drive letter windows assigns the hitachi.

Anymore problems can be solved by looking in the hitachi backup/burn/mod tutorial on the top of this thread.

I'm doing it to a 0078fk, so yes, but everytime I extract the firmware it doesn't checksum. I was wondering if anyone ever came across this before, as there's nothing about it in the pinned thread.

Its still doing it. Any idea why it's not dumping the proper firmware? I inserted like 3 different games and DVDs and it's still not dumping proper checksum'd firmware. :/

You must use a VIA chipset in order for it to dump correctly. I don't think SIL chipsets will work.

So... next ?
What chipset are you using for your sata card or motherboard sata ports?

It's a JMicron controller. Thing is, it worked for the samsung flashing. Is the hitachi one specific to via only?
