sorry if there is a question already being asked but can anyone tell me or show me what a cut leg wii chip looks like as i opened mine and i dont have a clue, i think it said D2B on it.

Also another problem, have i screwed over my wii, i put it back together and now when i put the power cable in, teh red light comes on. I press it, it goes green then quickly the light goes out. If i take teh power cable out and put it back in, the same happens.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks for all your help!

If you had the option between Wiikey and Argon though, which would you choose? I know this is a strange combo since Argon is for D2C but I've decided to trade my wii for one that's premodded and those are my 2 options right now. As far as I know, Wiikeyers seem pretty happy with their wii's so should I shell out more for Argon or will I be satisifed w/ Wiikey?

Argon is for ALL chipsets actually and as a wiikey owner - I'm happy right now but if I was buying from scratch and had those 2 choices I'd go Argon and still might if/when wiikey lets me down in the future.

Has anyone bought from foundmy.com? I want to get an infectus2 but it's sold out at modchipcentral. I haven't heard anything about this other site so I don't know if their chips are good or not. Or maybe someone can recommend a site that they know sells good chips. I've had some bad experiences with wiikey clones lately. Sites aren't selling fake infectus yet right?

Nah - you won't get fake Infectus 2 m8 - There are a few sites selling Infectus Argons if that'll do ya - does the same job , just a lil more money. They have recommended resellers on the official site but I came across this one the other day...

http://consolextreme.com/Shop/index.php?...h4c6dtpkl6rlom1

If you still want Infectus 2 I'd ring round any that are getting Argons in and ask if they can get hold of the I2 as well.

Since I can't edit my post, I wanted to repost with correction of the above.

jbloggs - Advertising for services encourages contravention of the general rule where ppl who would like to advertise their services directly can't, but are able to do so through the back door you open for them. Whilst some things aren't specifically detailed in the rules you'd have to understand that it's vitually impossible for the mods here to start referring to Rule X, Subsection Y, Clause Z in a forum where they really have to apply their judgement in a common sense way and generally they don't chastise ppl.

In other words - it's just a polite informative direction ;)

@jbloggs
juniR summed it up nicely.
I knew you weren't advertising to mod Wii's but looking for someone that does was which really isn't allowed here.

I've bought stuff from them before so they shouldn't be ripping you off...the emails also took a while because I think that they are getting more staff and training them.

Well I doubt staff training is anything to do with lack of contact or emails right now do you?

True but I'm just stating this site has had problems before, so I'm sure they will overcome the current problem and they aren't trying to scam you

There's no suggestion at all that customers will be scammed so reassurance on that point is irrelevant.

Ppl are worried because they can't contact them and one possible reason for this is they may be having legal proceedings taken against them. Until actual facts and the effect of any such action and associated restrictions are known I don't see how anybody can be "sure" that problems will be overcome. Personally I wouldn't want to tell anyone something I can't verify in this case because false hope can be as bad as no hope.

If I was to speculate at all (and it would only be speculation) I'd say that customers will probably get their goods, or refund, and any consoles sent for fitting will be returned. How long this will this take? I personally can't be sure.

EDIT - There is more info in the news thread I opened. Someone has contacted trading standards...

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/652116/3959233

K - ppl... Discussion about this issue should really go into that thread now because this thread is really intended for general discussion about modchips.

Can somebody confirm that the Wiiclip doesn't need seperate power connections to be soldered? as this is likely what I'm going to go for.

And, while I wait for this stuff to arrive, would it do any harm to upgrade the software (as per the dialog box when trying to access the online section?)

Edit: one last question... does the Argon and the D2Pro come with the firmware already flashed, or will I need to order a programmer as well and do it myself?

many thanks,

velkro

from what i have read in the past few days, wiiclip is totally solder free, unless you want to play games from a different region, then there is 4 extra wires to solder. this is according to mod-chip.bz descriptions. i cant find any info on a wii clip with the argon. i am torn between the d2pro and the argon, got any advice? i have one of the newer wii's with a chance of cut legs. if anyone has some info or advice on the argon working with the wii clip, and the argon vs. the d2pro, that would be great. also looking for a reputable vendor, so far im eying up modchipcentral, and mod-chip.bz. thanks for any help in advance.

edit: from wii keys website for ARGON:

The new WII-CLIP install diagram: Plug and Play, 0 wires
(If need use region free option, then need solder P / Q / O / SX or Y or V 4 wires)

so looks like the same as the d2pro, you only need to solder the 4 wires if you want the region free option.

but i still am up in the air on what one to get. to me it looks like they both have the same options, are both upgradeable, but the argon is a bit more expensive. advice?

Velkro - you will need a programmer in any case - dunno if it will be flashed but would expect it top be. Personally I'd be buying the programmer as well in any case so I wouldn't be bothered. And keep reading cos the next bit might interest you as well...

use search and put in "wiiclip" and "argon" and you'd get threads talking about this..

wiiclip & argon search

and reading down thru one you would get to this...

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/644774

where the guy has used a wiiclip with infectus 2 - a cheaper option because it comes with programmer. The argon doesn't and it has to be bought separately. Same thing with D2pro.

A quick look around indicates you will save about 15% on chip plus programmer if you went with that option. The difference in cost of D2Pro and Argon is not that much and some places might sell the D2Pro slightly cheaper. It's a good chip but the Infectus 2 is, the cheapest option if you are gonna do things properly and buy a programmer, and best chip overall. Go visit the official site and read all the recent news items about compatability and wasabus etc.

The thing that's putting me off about the Infectus is from people's experiences i've read with them having to solder seperate connections between the wiiclip and the chip allowing them to use it. The D2Pro seems to be the most ideal chip for me, zero soldering, good all round compatibility, zero hassle with firmware upgrades (other than via DVD which is fine for me).

I've seen some places online that sell pre soldered chips to the wiiclip, so I think one of those might be an investment.

anybody got any thoughts on my question re: updating the wii software (as requested by the Wii when I enabled internet access) and that messing up the chip (when I install it?)? Basically, what I want to know is can I update the software so as to explore the online Wii realm without screwing up my ability to chip it?

Thanks!
