Hi guys, i live in the uk and i am thinking or getting my wii modded, with the wiikey mod chip.

I have found a place called www.wii-chip.co.uk that supply and install the wiikey for £39.99

But i have to send my wii to them.

My question is, has anyone ordered or used this company before and what their experience was.

or can any recommend a uk mod company that do a good job

Hi - I just had mine done in the UK by Ghost2Fitter and I can highly reccommend them!! I initially had an Argon fitted but it packed up after 3 days. If you see Infectus site you will see that they are BAD chips and unstable. Only got it cos of the update feature and it was reccommended on here and it shouldn't be!!

I told them my probs cos I was gutted and asked them to fit a DC2Key instead and it works great. I was sceptical about sending my Wii off but you don't need to be - they are great and if you ask nicely they may be able to point you in the direction of a game supplier!

How old is your Wii because new ones sold in the last 6 months or so will not work with wiikey. You have to check your serial number - tells you on their site. Hope this helps and I wish someone had answered my similar question when I asked!!

The site doesn't look bad and is a lot cheaper than Ghost2fitter. They answer a lot of questions and the postage is really cheap. I am a bit sceptical because of the cheap prices and the fact they say they send internationally for £3.95!! It may be genuine or it may be an elaborate scam to relieve you of your money and your Wii!

I put my faith in Ghost because of reviews and reccomendations on here and they were really good but if wiichip is genuine I feel a bit gutted because it cost me quite a lot inc post with Ghostfitter.

BTW the brand new batch of Wiis CANNOT be chipped at all yet!!

I'm not sure why I even try to help!! No thanks whatsoever I think talktofrank is a government drug helpline so maybe you are taking the mickey!!

What's the address for Ghost? Do you want me to come round and type the name I gave into Google?

No helping some people. Stop asking stupid questions and do some research.

Hey everybody, I'm a long time lurker, not much posting. I'm thinking of getting a wiikey presoldered onto a wii-clip v3 from an official distributer. (I'm handy with an iron, but not that handy.) My wii was purchased within a week of the first launch. My drive should be dms/d2a. I believe this based on the serial tracker. I'm also looking to use a sd geko to backup my games. My 18 month old daughter loves to "play" with the pretty disks. Should this setup work?

Hi All,

After using AD for a couple of years for PC related issues, i've spent the whole of the day reading through the Wii posts RE modding. I previously had an older wii (D2B) which was stolen in a burglary...i received replacement a couple of weeks ago and am pretty much assumin its a D2C or maybe unluckily a D2C2...just waiting for my new triwing to be delivered as i lost my previous.

Now i've read a lot of posts of people asking for the best modchip and the same amount saying search the forums....but....can not seem to find a good comparison of my available options backed up with peoples actual experiences.

So far i am looking at the D2Cpro or the Argon (as i am purchasing one pre-soldered to a wiiclip).

Does anyone have experience of both? I know both of them are updateable via usb and the D2Cpro claims to be compatible with the new D2C2 chipset if i can obtain one with the compliance sticker.

If anyone can suggest some good search terms for the forums for this information, as i have tried many and read through most of the posts in this thread and not really been able to draw a conclusion as to which i should purchase.

I've done my research RE the features of all the D2C compatible chips and most seem pretty similar, i'm eager to get modded and start making full use of my Wii...whoop!!!

Thanks in advance.

What is a good modchip for a D2C wii. Are there any open source chips for the D2C yet? I know alot about the D2B chips and stuff bu not much about the D2C. Ive have done a few successful ps2 mods before but this wii seems to be a challenge. I think im going to try to attempt the install and if its too hard i will get one of those chip clip on things. What is good, i heard about the Wasabi, Argon, D2CKey, and D2CPro. IS D2CKey/Pro, WiiKey from the same company? What i was going to buy was the D2CPro, is there anything better? Is there a updated list of what the D2CPro can and cant do, like a modchip comparsion chart?
ty

Edit: there are D2C2??? whoa never heard of this, mine might be a D2C2. Going to search around.
Crap i have new D2C... Any chance that there are some regular D2C wiis around for sale in a store? Wait it is unmoddable right?
Or is it moddable with D2C Pro...

@quity

I'm having a similar dilemma, however the d2cpro websites states that the 9 wire d2cpro is compatible with the D2C2 chipset, but only if the modcip has a compliance sticker on it....so might be worth asking your supplier if the sticker is present...i'm guessing i'll find out later today if i'm gonna have my decision made for me re what chip i get....as in if i have a D2C2 i'm gonna be calling round looking for compliant chips....lol!!!

Right....finally checked my chipset and i definately have a d2c...whether it is a d2c2 or not i'm not sure...however, i hear d2pro are possibly releasing a firmware update for their d2cpro which will mod these...is this correct? Are there already any chips that mod the d2c2 yet?

There's a 50/50 chance i have one or the other....hmm!!!

You can find out what chip you have by checking the serial number. As yet there are NO chips for the newest Wiis but there may be in the future. I am guessing that Nintendo have made it even more difficult to install.
DC2Key is from Wikey team so is stable and even Wikey has had updates. D2Pro is a CLONE of this chip. Apparently updateable via Jtag programmer but Wikey was updated and I guess DC2Key will be too if needed.

I advise against getting the Argon chip based on my experience and if you check Infectus OWN site there are many users whose chip didn't work too even if professionally installed - as mine was. There is some site that does a comparison but I think the Wasabi had some issues but cant remember what!!

I went for DC2Key and it plays everything thrown at it even different regions as long as the Wii has been officially updated.

Does anyone know if the d2cpro is updateable with the d2prog? I'm thinking of getting one, as there is a chance i have a d2c2 chipset but i cant find any supplier who has the compliant chip as yet from d2pro.

That way, i have a 50/50 chance of the chip working straight off and if not pretty sure i will be able to flash it once the firmware becomes available.

D2cpro can be updated with a prog? It can be updated? D2Prog is from D2Pro. Hmmm, i am so confused with all these modchips that came out. WiiKey = D2Pro. D2cPro = clone? Has these D2C2 Wii came out in the USA yet? California, USA.

Thanks.

Hey quick question.. I'm trying decide on a modchip and I have access to two Wiis. One is a D2B with the cut legs and one is a D2C without the cut legs. I don't want to mess with dremeling the chip and all so would it be better in your opinion to go with a wasabi for the D2B or chip the D2C? Just curious if there was any benefit to chipping the D2B vs the D2C and couldn't find much info on the differences... Thanks

I would just check whether or not the d2c is a version 2 of the chip before you decide.

So I've been reading a lot of threads here, using the search engine quite a bit as well but I have not seen anyone state how you could identify a D2C2 from a D2C. Are there any identafiable markings? Also, the D2Pro9 from what I think I understand (questionable) is the latest version of the D2Pro but what, a 9 wire version? And this site http://canadamods.ca/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=42 states it works with just about everything and can be updated by DVD or JTAG.

Anyone have tested this D2Pro9 and it's ability to update via DVD?

I'm just not clear on this website statements.

Thanks,
Joe

For anyone to give a recommendation on where to get it done a location (country) would be a good start...

Only you know if you're capable of clipping a clip/chip combo on. For me the first one was a nervous encounter - the 5 since then not so much. If it's a recent buy (especially from a store with a lot of turnover) then you may have a D2C2 which would restrict your choice of chips somewhat (although you could always pony up for a replacement drive with a chip set more amenable to chipping).

Look at my posting a few lines up. Yea, I think I'll say it, read the threads. It's a pain at times but there is useful tidbits of information you could be missing.
