i recently got this card sata raid controller, it shows up in scsi but cannot get it to work properly my question is ive read a couple places that you cannot disable raid on this device and therefor you cannot use just one sata port, can someone1 verify this or give me any other suggestions, ive tried the stickied mtk flash guide and such and still cannot find a solution

Ok, I've posted this in a few threads but here's the Easiest way to flash a m28/m25 with the via 6241a card.
Get the drivers 5.30 from www.viaarena.com
Don't install the RAID utility
Reboot PC and make sure everything is working... correct drivers, ect... Don't have anything plugged to the SATA while doing this initial reboot

After everything is installed correctly
Open Xtreme bootmaker and if you have m28, put the checkmarks in, if m25 don't. And detect the I/O of your SATA card.
After you're finished with xtreme bootmaker, turn off the PC
Plug your 360 SATA cable to the 6241a in the Primary SATA port. (the one on the side of the card)
Turn on the 360
Turn on PC and boot to dos with bootdisk
type mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin
Select Xtreme Primary
It should dump. After it's done turn off the 360 and PC
unhook the SATA from the 360 and turn back on the PC
Boot to windows and copy your orig.bin file from your bootdisk to the xtreme52 folder
Run the command "make xtreme firmware" and select your firmware you want.
When it's done, take the x52x.bin file and open xtreme toolbox and check to make sure the key is the same as the key in orig.bin
If it is, copy the x52x.bin file to your bootdisk
Turn off PC
hook sata from 360 drive to primary SATA on 6241
Boot 360
Boot PC
at dos type mtkflash w /m /sata x52x.bin
After it is done, power off the 360 and pc
Plug SATA cable from 360 motherboard to 360 DVD drive and test.

Ok when i was attempting this earlier it was on my gateway 5200s it just was not doing anything, so i hooked it up to another pc an ibm i have and i ran xtreme boot maker and such booted to floppy hooked 360 up and when i typed mtkflash r /sata /m orig.bin, it said port 170 master/slave a0 but unlike the gateway where it would do nothing after this, it went on and said flashing type- SST(XXXXXXXXXXX)and it would sit on 00% , i rebooted and tryed typing mtkflash r /m orig.bin and it gave same port 170 master/slave a0 and went on to flashing type- bunch of numbers not the same as one mentioned above, and it reads to 100% but file is only 64kb in size

Did you hook up a IDE cable from the sata card to any cd/dvd drive? That might be your problem.

All I can say is when it doesn't work, you have to turn off both the 360 and pc and try again. Make sure the 360 is on before the PC.

Since you didn't say /SATA you dumped another devices firmware ;)
Make sure ALL SATA drives, HDD's ect are not plugged in. Only the 360 SATA and the floppy cable.

Don't know if this helps but it's actually
mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin

I'm not sure if having the /sata before the /m does works or not.

I don't know. Mine worked with and without IDE drives connected. If you have onboard SATA or a SIL3112 also installed disable them as well. I know I can't use my 6241a card to flash samsung drives if the SIL3112a card is installed in my PC. I take it out the PCI slot and the VIA card works perfect again.
