Swap magic 3.6 and gameshark

Please someone help me
I have bought the original gameshark (broadband enabled) and i have swap magic 3.6 and ps2 the slim one.
Here is what i do to load my back up games with cheats:
1.I put the gameshark CD and select the cheats that i want
2.press X to start the game with cheats on
3.Insert the swap magic 3.6
4.swap the cd with my back up game
5. and finally the game starts
But the problem is that the cheats do not work for some reason.
Does anybody know why? can anybody help me please?
