I have been burning for years. Now, I can't get anything to burn, it keeps giving me illegal disc error message. I used to brun with Office Depot discs, I ran out, I bought Fujifilm discs which wouldn't work. Then I went back and got Maxell discs, which I've used before, they won't work either! I have tried burning off pure video file... nothing works. I need some serious help. I've tried downloading the firmware etc, nothing is working. I can burn CDs... so it will read and write, I doubt it's the laser. I can't figure it out.

Here is my Nero Log:

Some friendly advice, I'd edit out that serial number for your Nero before it ends up being shared on the internet.

Hi ARose13
Yeah edit out those serial # - at the top of the log and begin w/ 1A.

Recorder: <HP DVD Writer 420n> Version: 1.25
The firmware can use an update - the latest is 1.33.
Here's a link.
Illegal disc is usually caused by the media/and or firmware not supporting the discs you are using. So this update may help resolve that.

Nero version: 6.3.1.29
Nero can use an update too - update to 6.6.0.18 - the last version of 6 to autoburn w/ Shrink.
package 1
package 2

File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS'
Nero's InCD can sometimes cause conflicts - if you're not using it uninstall it and run the clean tool.

Give that a go and let us know.

edit: spelling
