How much will my internet connection affect online play?

I have a slow internet connection. I want to know how exactly this is gonna affect online play. I've played WoW on my internet before and it doesn't have too much latency. I'm not really sure how fast the internet connection has to be for it to run laglessly. Any Info would be nice.

If it is very slow games will lag! So it will greatly affect it... who is your sevice providor?

Well i live in Belize, so my Service provider is BTL. You've probably never heard of them. There are basically only two service providers here. BTL is the better one. I wanna get satellite internet but I'm not sure how that would work out. This means that I won't be playing much online if any at all :(. Anyways thanks for the info.
