I recently got my computer reformatted but with a data backup because of a really bad virus that messed my OS up. Well in my backup folder (all the files, ex. c:\\windows), there are 7 Bloodhound.Packed.10 viruses. I previously scanned with Norton as a full system scan before another user of my computer used it and Norton didnt find anything. But after the user used my pc, i scanned for viruses and got Bloodhound.Packed.10. I know there is a main virus creating smaller viruses but i dont know which one is.

The website says to download spyware doctor, but i already have trend micro anti-spyware. Is spyware doctor that much better?

I also found a file I was unsure of, but it is something to do with AOl. Here it is:

I would consider fixing that one too. But I didn't see anything else so that should do it. Post back if you have any other problems.

You should maybe try download AVG anti spyware from ewido.com
It is a trial for 30 days but it should definetly find that virus, and then you should be able to delete it. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you very much for the help. My computer seems to be doing pretty good.


But, on my other computer i have TR/Agent.BJU, and HEUR/Malware inside my avira quarantine. Will these viruses have any possibility of spreading although they are in my quarantine? Also, do you recommend scanning in safe mode for viruses/spyware?

As of right now, my computer booted up yellow, and i logged on, and its still yellow. By yellow i mean the mouse, toolbar; the whole screen. Any suggestions why???

I got Bloodhound.packed.10 too and heres my HijackThis Log, pls. check it out and tell me what should I do. Also, I have AVG software but it wont detect the virus now im trying Spybot, for now only my norton is detecting it. anyways heres my logg:

Hello, sorry I didnt get back to you guys, but anyways, I'll start with ravens1 problem about his monitor. This problem could be with your graphics card, and not your monitor. If you have a aftermarket card (nvidia, ati etc.) try downloading their latest drivers. Also, if you have another computer, try hooking up your monitor to that computer to see if you get the same, or a different result.

Ok, that should do it, and as for your "clicking on the fix butten doesnt do anything" problem, I would suggst giving it more time, or even make sure you checked the entrys that were bad. Also, does your whole computer freeze, or is it just the HijackThis window? Hope this helps!!:)

Thanks so much for the reply. I had a graphics card in my computer, but i took it out after my monitor turned all yellow. But the graphics card isn't the problem because without it i still see yellow. i hooked my computer up to another computers monitor and there was no problem at all. So i think my monitor just blew out because it is kind of old.

hello, im completely computer illiterate, but i recently contracted the bloodhound.packed.10 seemingly overnight (i think perhaps my norton updated my virus definitions and just suddenly detected it. i did a full system scan, but norton was unable to fix, quarantine or delete it. i then did a second full system scan with system restore off and in safe mode, but norton was again unable to fix, quarantine or delete it. im stuck now with no idea what to do. i dnled HijackThis and here is my log. if someone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it!! thanks so much! kris

I have Bloodhound.packed.10 too, and everything i try to download to remove it scans it and then asks me to purchase it to remove. i have norton, spy sweeper and tried using vundo fix but i'm still getting the norton notifications. here's my hijack this log:

hello all, I have been searching on the wab for a while now, and I have found a article that explains abunch of ways to prevent, and remove bloodhoud.packed.10 from your computer. Here it is:http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/bloodhound.packed.html

Also, elton1972 asked what the symptoms are, and I'm not sure if these are the symptoms for bloodhoud.packed.10, sinceI am not really familar with it but I do know some symtoms that you may have to indicate that your computer is infected, here they are:

-Your computer freezes frequently or encounters errors.
-Unusual system messages or fake error messages appear.
-Your computer slows down when programs are started.
-Microsoft Internet Explorer freezes or functions erratically.
-Your computer automatically shuts down after displaying a System Shutdown message.
-Registry entries have been added or removed to execute unknown programs at startup.
Y-ou receive notification from your firewall that some applications have attempted to connect to the Internet, although you did not initiate this.

Also, a very "last" thing to do, when everything else fails is to use the Windows Restore points, which will restore your computer to the exact same it was 1 day aoa, 1 week ago etc, but you will lose ALL of your data that you have saved since then, unless you put it all on a cd, or some kind of external storage device, and then you could just copy it back to your computer.

It sucks coz every time i go to safe mode, the screen turns black nd on the side it says safemode -.- . like normal safemode, first, it tells me that i cant use internet nd such. when i click yes, every thing turns black -.- . my laptop is screwed up -.- . I hate reformatting my computer, guess I have no choice -.- . thx alot tho.

i had the exact same problem since i got the bloodhound.packed.10 alert. somehow i figured out a way to get around it. after i logged in in safe mode, a window popped up and asked if i really wanted to stay in safe mode and keep system restore disabled. it took me several tries, but apparently if i clicked no (to reenable system restore) i was able to boot in safe mode. i dont know if that was just my little bug, or if thats part of the virus, but thats how i got around it, so good luck.

sorry, but none of this seems to be helping . . . even the system restores won't work.

I think the problem is because the infected file is part of the boot process, and it won't clean it because it's essential to the operating system . . .

I'm just so out to left field on this . . . i don't have any idea what to do anymore.
