I am having trouble starting the DVD Shrink program to shrink Open Season. When I click "Open Disc", it just says, "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file "D:\" It won't even start to read the disc or anything. Please help.

DVD_Shrink will open this movie with the help of RipIt4Me.

@vulcan

Shrink alone can't do the newer movies, you need something to get by the encryption!

Not to add to any confusion, but in hopes of adding another avenue.

AnyDVD + DVDDecrypter (yeah, the old one)...rip to hard drive. Use VOBlanker (process ALL)...then you can use Shrink.

AnyDVD + CloneDVD. (VOBlanker not needed here)

@Morph

It always pays to have as many options as are available. Think back to Saw 3.

Agreed...and anything you guys post, like Alkohol's tutorials, I give them a run thru as well. They work great.

I just hope that some people that are having really difficult times in ripping, keep in mind that it could also be a hardware issue...like mine, when I upgraded to the LiteON 16W1P drives...

Both of you are right. Different ways for different folks. Although I gotta say 9 out of 10 times folks dont follow directions or read and hardly ever have hardware problem, I been there. Anyway, I read and read and try what you folks say and it always works. Thanks Again.

Same problem with *Open Season* here. I've tried AnyDVD, Shrink, Decrypter, Ripit4Me, IFOEdit, Nero 7,CloneDVD2,Ulead dvd movie factory....I can rip an iso or IFO files, but each of these can't open those files to burn the dvd. I keep getting error messages. Any ideas.

91360, I just copied it as suggested above. I copied it as a file with dvddecrypter, used VobBlanker, then DVD Shrink to get to fit and wrote to disk. I havent figured dvdfab so far.

Why did you jump on Freedom? If he were padding posts, he would have been an addict by now. If you care to look, he joined Nov 04!
He gave us with what he did the movie.

I did it with AnyDVD and Nero Recode @100% movie only.

Open Season is easily do-able in RI4M using the 1-Click mode. I noticed you said you had a problem with it earlier. Depending on the effort involved, all these programs can probably get the job done. People are saying so at least. I did it and it plays perfect. I used Full DVD and let it rip. I've heard the ISO option can cause problems and user input can add problems as well with the wizard, especially if the FixVTS step is skipped.

(Rip in iso) is only for dual layer disks so you'll automatically skip the DVD Shrink portion of the process(obviously don't need shrink for dual layer). Shrink will have a problem trying to read the iso to be recorded on single layer disks.

I was so ugly when I was a kid, my parents used to take me everywhere just so they wouldn't have to kiss me goodbye.

Garmoon, Freedom,

This is off subject but I swear I did not put the last post about Freedom on here. I don't even have a right to make that statement and I can't edit it either. I have not been on here since my post about I got it copied. I changed my password too.

Shrink can be set to DVD9 in the settings. But for reading an ISO, it doesn't matter if it is 4.37 or 8.5GB. Shrink reads the files whether preparing for a trasncode or processing for a DL burn. The error happens with the FixVTS processing. FixVTS needs access to the files, but with them in an ISO, it can't handle them individually for the compliance processing. The rip ends up being noncompliant where the copy protection effects the structure with the ISO output.

Whenever I try to specify my target folder in RI4M, the program quits responding. Anyone know why this is happening to me?

Are you saying after you create the target folder you can't select OK and close out saving the target path for the program?

No, I guess I just wasn't waiting long enough for the list to load. It took extra long for some reason. But as usual I have a new problem now. When using DVDDecrypter to rip the movie to my computer, I keep getting I/O erros. Are these normal, or what's the deal with them?
