usually DVD Shrink is all i need, but i encountered an error when i recently tried to back up a newer dvd, anyways so I read some things and found out DVD Decrypter would work out, and it did I got the dvd all formatted into ISO format but dvdshrink keeps rejecting it.

when i go to open the ISO file in DVD Shrink it says:

dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue

failed to read file C:/users/desktop/dvdattempt.ISO

any advice would be much appreciated. thanks

Shrink and decrypter can't handle the newer DVDs alone. They are encrypted. Use a free program to remove the DRMs like these two:

DVD Fab Decrypter from here:

Here's a guide for ripping with DVDFab if needed:

Ripit4Me-

OR a free trial(21days) of AnyDVD from Slysoft.com with no learning curve set it and forget it.

i used dvdfab, and i got the dvd downloaded but not in ISO format, instead it was in video_ts and audio_ts format, i couldnt get that into dvdshrink either, is there a way to load that onto DVD Shrink, or is there a way to use dvdfab to get a dvd formated as ISO?

are there any other programs that will shrink this stuff down so i can put it onto a regular dvd?

You didn't say what movie you were working with, but it still seems you're having problems with the copy protection. It's no longer just a matter of getting the files ripped, they need to be cleaned and processed for compliance. DVDFab Decrypter and some others just don't do that by themselves. RipIt4Me does it all in 1-Click mode. Give it a try. http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html and be sure to read the instructions before doing the install.

You're welcome. I've been using the RI4M on some real troublesome titles that have been messing up AnyDVD and DVDFab Decrypter.

@panthx

Once you get the movie ripped to the video-ts folder open that folder in shrink by selecting OPEN FILES top left of Shrink and navigate to where you let Fab rip the video_ts folder and open the video file, don't worry with the audio file, it's empty. Then Get Shrink to create the ISO file to burn with the program of your choosing.

If RI4M is used, it opens in Shrink automatically. Then when they hit backup they can choose whatever output they want to burn. RI4M can also output an ISO, but I don't see why it would be needed.

Glad it worked out for you. Now that it's set up, it will be easier to use in the future. Just keep it updated and it should be one of your better programs. None of the programs are 100% all the time, so I'd keep DVDFab Decrypter updated. I've got a bunch of software, but currently RI4M is my "go to" program for the current heavy copy protections.
