this is my monitor, which im currently using with DVI on my computer. i have component cables for my ps2, so is it possible to buy this: (ebay item number, link not coming out right: 220080989705) and make it work?

depends how much it is worth to you. Thing is that a cable, even if you can find one, that goes from component to VGA will just send the signal. A converter/transcoder on the other hand will upgrade the signal from component to VGA so you get a better resolution like 1080i for HDTV's
