is a firmware update nescessary? its working fine. mine is version 6.0 is this firmware update compatable with it? http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=9

I updated my firmware and it was due to the fact of security nothing else. If anything it was working better without the update.
