DVD will not burn with sony blank DVD

I just got some new blank DVD's and Nero will not burn my, this has happened before with other blank DVD's. I fixed the problem with a flash disk i downloaded from dell, i tried this again but problem did not correct.

that's pretty close to the edge of the disk.... lower it to 4400MB or so.

noticed it's a 4x drive and if you updated your firmware to the 203E it should let it do 8x and maybe 16x disks........ some 16x media may or may not be recognized by your drive to perform the correct write strategies to burn that 16x disk. Hopefully those Sony 16x disks won't cause a problem, but Quote:

burning too slowly can be just as bad as burning too fast! Burn at 4x to 8x for those 16x DVD media!

still will not work, i have downloaded new Nero, and burning option remains at 2.3 ish, here is error log

then I fear the worst.... your drive just doesn't like those DVD-R, 16x Sonys.... because it's 16x and it's not recognizing them as such ...... that's why you can't burn it more than 2.4x! go out and buy only 8x media for your drive! or ...... get a new drive and then you should be able to burn all the new media out there!

My advice would be take those Sony discs back to the store. About
a month ago I got a 100 pack of those Sony 16X. There was not one
decent burn on any of the ones I tried. My machine will burn 16X of
anything else. When I took them back, the customer service person
told me they were getting a lot of them back. I ordered some Taiyo
Yuden and haven't had a problem since.
