I have recently started to have problems with being redirected once I click on a link from any search engine. This is only a problem when using Internet Explorer, so I figured it has to be some sort of spyware. I have ran the updated versions of adaware, Spybot, and Cccleaner all in safe mode; but none of these have fixed the problem. If someone could please review my HijackThis Log file I would greatly appreciate it.

You have what is known as a WareOut infection...

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Thanks for posting the logs.

Please disable SpyBot's TeaTimer, as it may interfere with the fix. To disable TeaTimer:

[*] Run Spybot-S&D
[*] Click the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
[*] On the left hand side, Click Tools then Resident
[*] Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
[*] Restart your computer.

Once your log is clean you can re-enable TeaTimer.

You may want to print these instructions out for reference during the fix.

Run and scan with HijackThis. Place checks beside the following:

Close all open browsers/windows and click the fix button.

Before doing this write down all the settings, Note that not all system/setups even have these settings, While some connection services will require them.

Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK.

Type the following:

ipconfig /flushdns

(that space between "g" and "/" is needed)

Then hit enter, type exit hit enter.

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log please. Also please let me know if you are still being redirected.

Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware from here:

After installing it remember to update the program's definition files. Don't worry about scanning with it right now... I'll ask for you to do that shortly.

Close all open windows/browsers and click the Fix button.

Reboot you computer.

Once back in Windows update your Java Runtime Environment to the newest version. You can do that by going here:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications". This will be directly below the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Header. Click the "Download" button to the right. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh. Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save it to your desktop. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser. Go to Start>Run and type in appwiz.cpl and hit Enter. Hilite any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version. Also remove anything in the list that is related to Viewpoint. Once all Java and Viewpoint components are removed...

Search for and delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.

Reboot please.

Once back in Windows I would now like you to do a Full System Scan with AVG Anti-Spyware. You need to set the program up first.

[*]Click on Scanner on the toolbar.
[*]Click on the Settings tab.
[*]Under How to act?
[*]Click on Recommended Action and choose Quarantine from the popup menu.
[*]Under How to scan?
[*]All checkboxes should be ticked.
[*]Under Possibly unwanted software:
[*]All checkboxes should be ticked.
[*]Under Reports:
[*]Select Automatically generate report after every scan and uncheck Only if threats were found.
[*]Under What to scan?
[*]Select Scan every file.
[*]Click on the Scan tab.
[*]Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
[*]Let the program scan the machine.
[*]When the scan has finished, follow the instructions below.

IMPORTANT : Don't click on the "Save Scan Report" button before you click the "Apply all Actions" button.

[*]Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)
[*]At the bottom of the window click on the Apply all Actions button. (3)




[*]When done, click the Save Scan Report button. (4)
[*]Click the Save Report as button.
[*]Save the report to your Desktop.
[*]Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.

Post the AVG log along with a new HijackThis log please.
