AC3 2-ch/AC3 5.1-ch English

I was reading through some guides and most say to only keep the AC3 5.1-ch English ticked. Is that a good call and what is the purpose of the other one?

2 channel is usually for extras unless it's an old movie. Usually the 2 ch is so small I don't bother with it. In shrink you can expand the titles and highlight each and read the audio for it to the right. I consider it more work than it's worth. If worried about compression do movie only.

Depends on the player u are using.
My new player will play DTS but I only copied the 5.1.

But yes! If size and compresion are a problem.
Cut what u do not need. Now I copy the DTS and
cut the 5.1, but there are not that many DVDs in DTS.

Plus DTS only plays on DTS equipment and 5.1 will play on everything.

You can get better compression if you select the AC3 2 channel only but make sure you are not selecting the commentary.

You can improve the compression most by deleting all the audio tracks and read the subtitles. ;) On a serious note though, you can't just choose AC3 2 channel for everything. Some movies have an AC3 2 channel track and some don't. Also some of the AC3 2 channel tracks for the movies are director commentary. Unless you're sure, best to go with at least the 5.1.
