Has anyone successfully done the following if possible. I used to use swap magic on my ps2 until i found the wonder world of hdd. But is it possible to use hdl dumb to install a game as a backup disc(DVD+R). IN other words... i want to install my disc back disc onto the hdd. (Not through the PS2 but through connection)
Note: i legally own my game but my ps2 wont read many due to dirty discs and a really horrible laser.
I'm pretty sure that's what he means...
The only thing I could see being a problem is how poorly your system is truly performing, as per what you'd stated in the first post.
Wish I could help with the hdldumb question, but I've never used that method myself. Backup discs can be installed to the HDD via HD Loader straight from the PS 2 just like you would the actual originals (or "pressed disc", as you stated) though there is a specific procedure to go about it. Not sure how bad your laser is though, so I could see why you'd want to find alternative means.
