so there's this new way to bypass Sony's firmware check on the PS3 so you can have a less than current firmware and still play online and get to the store, etc. check on PS3news.com for more info.
if there is anyone who has done this, can you please elaborate on what to do when when you get to the part where you have to enter the values for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Router, and Primary DNS into the PS3 Internet Connection Setting. can someone elaborate on what i am supposed to put into each of these values to get it to work? thanks

I have tried all day, but everytime I follow their instructions I get an error on my PC saying there is a conflict with another machine using the same IP.. On the PS3 I test the connection and I pass the obtain IP but the connection to the internet fails, saying I need an updated firmware.. I leave those settings go to PS store and it still fails, but I can connect to the internet using the browser, so I know that I am still connected............................................

Forgive me for my ignorance, but I also tried using ettercap and I dont know how to edit the etter.dns to allow it run under ettercap... I noticed in both forums that post the guides.. They are not that detailed... You may say yeah they are, but when they explain them, they explain them in terms that they already know, they are not thinking that "KING John"(ME) cannot understand this because he has never done this paticular instruction before.... So someone who is a newbie that has been able to do this paticular bypass, please explain in great detail what you did to get it to work..I wanna see photo's,videos,notes,blood,etc..you get the point..What i already know... I know how to network the router, the pc, and so forth so I know the basics... by the way... does it matter what type of router u have... I have a linksys Wireless G..Thanks!!

If you downloaded the "correct" etter.dns then right click and open in notepad if you want to edit it. But you don't need to, just go to C:/Program Files/EttercapNG/Share folder then rename the original etter.dns to anything you want and copy/paste the "correct" etter.dns and then try it out. I will say though I cannot get the Etter program way to work. As for this thread it is closed, go to this one to discuss further
