I want to know if i can split my ntl (virgin media) Broadband connection to get the tv service from the same wire. At the moment i only have the broadband but im going to sign up for the tv. If i can split it , does it have to have the basic package at least

You can split it. After splitting, is your intention to use their subbed box or do you intend using a dbox etc.. ?

i am hoping to use a dbox starview etc but i only have broadband at the moment, willl i get tv if i split?

yeah if you split the wire and hook up dbox or starview it will work

Benifa - I have posted about getting Broadband through my Dreambox 500c, i have a subscription to NTL broadband which comes through my set top box but when i connect the 500c i only get TV and not internet, can you private me with any advice please?

You cannot get broadband via a dreambox. A 500c box cannot handle broadband via the cable feed.
Use a splitter.
