i have an xbox 360 and wondered if original xbox games have unlockable achievements like 360 games?

Unfortunately not.

You can still go online with original Xbox games (the ones that run on the 360) but there's no achievements to be gotten out of them: only 360 games and games from the Games Arcade section of Xbox Live Marketplace have achievements and gamerscore points.
