ok my friend has a 2.80 firmware psp and wants to upgrade to 3.03 oec, can we upgrade without downgrading?

Does it matter ?
He will have to downgrade first regardless, before upgrading to 3.03oec.
The motherboard would just change the method of downgrading.

It doesnt change anything, which is why you need certain downgraders for different motherboards.
Granted the 3.03 downgrader fits all motherboards as it patches the TA-082 for you.
But since he asked about a 2.80 downgrader and didnt say weather or not it was a TA-082, it would be wrong to give him a link to just any downgrader without asking first.

first to cfultz -> sorry with out downgrading u cant upgrade directly to 3.03OE-C!!!!!u can only upgrade to any custom firewares from fireware 1.5!!
guys plse dont fight like this!!!!u both r correct but cfultz is a new guys so he need to know every thing in details!!!stop hitting each other and help this guys like any way u r able to

well said. but yes a downgrade is needed before you go to a custom firmware
pm me with any psp problems i know quite alot even if it includes a ta-082.

there will be letters on the right side of the umd door when you open it (for a more detailed pic google "TA-082" in the pix area)
pm me with any psp problems i know quite alot even if it includes a ta-082.

It actually would mate, then you have no need to worry about what version your motherboard is.
Just dont upgrade any higher than 3.03

well if there are no numbers there then u dont have a ta-082 mobo which is good you would be better off upgrading to 2.80 and downgrading frm there as you dont need an unpatched gta lcs to downgrade lyk you do on 3.03.

yeah...it'd be much easier to just downgrade to 1.5 instead of 303ing to downgrade, to then (again) upgrade to OE-C...
i don't know if it's relevant to you, but if you truely want to customize ur psp, i'd stick with OE-B. many changes tween B & C, but more options....
- in fact, thats what i am going to do today.... ;)

actually i would ugrade to 2.71 because it has a safer easy installer that you can use i have done it atleast ten times and worked good with all of them. if you want the file pm me.
pm me with any psp problems i know quite alot even if it includes a ta-082.

thats great news for you but the guy says he has a 2.80 so a 2.71 downgrader wouldnt be much use to him
