New to this, so please be gentle, i have telewest and virgin have took over now, my box is down most channels, im going to buy a null modem cable tommorow can someone just confirm for me that it is female to female please. Thankyou.

Yes mate female to female is what you need,
I presume you did another scan,changed cams etc.
