I am a newbie.

I have a ps2 new slim. I use Swap Magic 3.6 with Magic tools 2.
I can copy my PS2 games with Alcohol 120 and play them with no problems.
I have a few games that I downloaded. Like nba 07, madden 07.
I can't seem to get most of them to work.
Most of them are PAL. My system is NTSC but that should not matter.
I do have Hard Rock 07 and that works fine. Some others just don't load. Some others like Star Wars battlefront 2 load but hang after a while.
Is this because the downloads are just not reliable?
Any feedback would be great.
Thanks Guys.

some downloads are not right, but most will be ok on any good sites. A lot of people have problems with EA Sports games.
You may want to try rebuilding the ISO and then burning them.

Does IMGBurn support .mdf files?
That's the reason I have been using Alcohol 120.
The .ISO files I have been using Nero.

Does Swap Magic 3.6 (USA) play both PAL and NTSC without converting them?

"what do you mean what brand all i know is its the fat type"

he wanted to know what brand of DVD you use to back games up on,
Like Verbatim 8X DVD-R for example. Your version of PS2 is a different think. If you really care look here.

The swap itself is a simple tricking of the ps2. What we are actually doing is this. When a Gs2 asks you for the game to load. You push eject and put in the game. This is in a normal usage of it. But what?s happening is that when u push eject it read reads the TOC (table of contents) of the cd. When this is done a check of the authenticity is done too. So here where the trick works, We trick it into not reading the TOC or the authenticity by either using a chip or some other method of forcing the tray out.
When we force it out the game is swapped and the system.cnf is read and it loads.

Q: But where does patching come in at?
A: Patching is a side effect of this trick. In order to make the gs2 V1.0 load a copy the system.cnf has to be at 12231. Now remember that the TOC is not read again so its looking at that spot for it. If you don?t patch it looks there and doesn?t find it so it locks up. But it?s a different story with V1.3 they changed the code and this is no longer a problem. But there is still a need to patch games at times. This is because of the limit and file ordering problems.

Q: What is this limit?
A: It is another side effect of the gs2 swap trick. If you have a modchip installed the limit does not exist because you pressed eject and the TOC is reread. But if you don?t have a chip its not reread. So the ps2 has in its memory a TOC that has a file limit at 520 meg or so. This causes any file at load time that?s beyond there to be ignored. But after its loaded they can be read though. I did test this theory. This limit is the reason starwars wont load with out a chip.

I have been using DVD Decrypter to burn my back ups, it's all automatic pretty much, and haven't had a problem yet. except when accidentally trying to burn too fast. Myself, I burn at 4x. It takes about 10 minutes to burn the whole dvd but what the hell, I got it for free so a little patience is not out of the question.

it seems the time i actually burned too fast was when the game would load fine, play for a bit then freeze or black screen. And I use maxell DVD+R.
