ive noticed with a few games that there is a difference of quality between backups and originals. I made my backup copy of gears of war yesterday and when im playing tha game it runns fine but when im playing the game on live it loads the textures really fricken slow. i have this problem with saints row also when driving a car i notice that the textures of the buildings arnt loading as fast as they should. could uping tha drive speed make a difference? im running a ms28 sammy with xtreme v5.2 firmware and useing the hotswap method to make my backups.

yah i have xtreme v5.2 b the same as you emachine does anyone else have quality probs with b? and does anyone have xtreme v5.2 A C or D. i was wondering if somone who has a firmware with 12x speed has tryed reading the backups to with problems and see maybe if it was a problem with the drive not retreaving the data fast enough to keep up with the game.
i have also seen this prob with oblivion

ok so it looks like we have 2 users with 5.2 a and sammy ms28 drives that have no problems. are you guys reading your discs at 4x or 12x speed and what type of disc media are you burning to?

a - always fast read
b - always slow read
c - default fast read
d - default slow read
c and d's default can be switched without having to reflash the firmware. I use c. My backups read fast by default. If I want to switch it to read slow, I can with an original game.
c and d are good if you use different brands of media. If you're getting an error, switch the read mode and see if it's the burn which may be causing the problem.

I think mine was also the Extreme52-A firmware and i know it is a MS28 drive. I have burned them all to Verbatim DVD+R DL 6X max speed DVD's and all have worked. I am burning them at 4X speed using IMGburn and booktyping them as DVD-Rom, even though i know my drive doesn't require it.
So far out of about 30 some games i have had no coasters. The burner is a BenQ DW1655. And the PC Samsung drive is the SATA version with the newest firmware.

So does 5.2a or c seems like the best bet to go with?
Do you think it will hurt the 360 making it read default fast all the time? thanks
I just thought going with "b" would make the 360 last longer since I'm already on my 3rd.

lol its not the drive that overheats. its the GPU and CPUs that are over heating, setting your drive on fast all the time wont hurt it, but if you use crappy media your going to want to use a slower read
