I have a slim ps2. I also have Swap Magic 3.6. I have a back-up of Initial D special Stage Which loads and works AT THE BEGGINING. After the opening,if I try to choose anything it just freezes, and I burned it the same way as all my other games. Does anyone know what the problem is?

The same thing is happening to me but mine is a Japanese version. It boot all the way to the menu and then it freeze with a horrible sound.
Note: I tried to use the game on a emulator on my pc and it load just fine.
So is it a issue with the machine or swap magic does like japanese games ?
Is there any known solution for this ?

so since i have a slim ps2 and swapmagic 3.6 i copied the initial d game to a hard-drive and using a ide to usb converter (search for externel usb guide for slim ps2 or something like that), i connected it to my ps2

at first it crashed my ps2 so i tried different things, what i ended up doing was getting ulaunchelf on a separate usb drive (or u can burn it) then loaded it with swap magic and then i checked to make sure the usb drive with the game was reading and then launched usb advance that i had on the same usb drive and it detected and i got the game to play!

sorry i booted the ps2 without the game drive connected (since it crashed the ps2 when loading swapmagic) once ulaunchelf was running i connected the drive and loaded usb advance from within the mass:// drive and then it detected the hard-drive and game

k first i did this:

slim ps2 -> ide hard-drive converted to usb -> booted up swap magic but it crashes.

next what i did was i used a usb thumbdrive and got uLaunchElf file on there ... renamed as SWAPMAGIC.ELF and so i did this:

slim ps2 -> usb thumb drive -> booted swap magic which boots the elf file on the usbdrive -> when uLaunchElf boots up i unplug the usb thumbdrive -> plug in hard-drive to same usb port -> wait a bit -> browse the mass:/ (which is the hard-drive) -> load usbadvance.elf from the hard-drive -> usb advance loads up -> sees the hard-drive with initial d on it -> i press start and play.

hope this helps, i haven't found another way to get it working without hard-drive... i'm trying to find a way to skip loading into uLaunchElf so it loads usbadvance but since the hard-drive makes my ps2 crash when i load swapmagic i don't know how else to approach this.

i'm thinking if i can burn usbadvance to a cd then load swapmagic to boot the cd with usbadvance, then once usbadvance is loaded plug in the usb hard-drive and then it'll pick up the drive and you can play.

Sorry to revive this thread but, Initial D Special Stage does not boot on Sony PS2's that are model number SCPH-7500x or higher. They may load off of a HDD with HDLoader.elf though. My friend uses USB HD Advance freeware.elf.

Its due to hardware changes, though its unknown why, they think it has something to do with the PS2 memory and the built in online. But mainly it was only built for the non-slim models. Though you can play it off a HDD.

I have got it to work on my ps2.My ps2 is united states.N i have swap magic coder 3.8.but the first thing u need to do is to patch the game.I had done a lot of things to try n get initial d to work even after i boot up swap magic n change it to ntsuc.but doesnt work.So i finally got it to work.First thing is download a ps2 patch.called PS2 PAL TO NTSC PATCHER WITH Y-FIX V1.06 BETA.Make an ISO file of the game.Run ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix.exe
Click Browse and select the iso file of the game
Select 48 as the Y-Fix offset. You cannot have it perfectly centered because the PAL signal has more lines or resolution than the NTSC signal does. This is as close as you can get. You can raise the offset if you need to see more of the bottom of the screen or you could lower the offset if you want to see more of the top of the screen.I choose to uncheck Make PN Selector
Click PATCH FILE.then burn the game.works great with swap magic 3.8.boot it n works fine.like us games.

Hey Guys

i have trouble with getting Initial D started on my PAL 77004 PS2 Slim(Modded with CC 1.2).
I´ve tried to patch it with PS2 Pal to NTSC patcher with Y-Fix but it still won´t work. It always freezes when I try to start a game. Please help me! I´ve spent about 10 DVD´s until now.

The game WILL NOT work on slim models due to hardware changes.

Well its good thing you didn't post the link. Just read the forum rules, i didn't think there was a patched version torrent. I know of the patch but never needed it since i have a non-slim PS2.
