burnt dvd wont play in every dvd player

burnt dvd wont play in every dvd player

i tried in 2 dvd players jvc ,1 laptop dell and 1 hp comp and worked fine

then i tried in 1 dell with a philips dvd , 1 sony lap top , 1 dell lap top , 2 sony regular home playes one new and one old and they dont play

then i bought a samsong dvd drive for the dell and it worked

i tried 3 differt copies

i used ConvertXtoDVD Ver. 2.1.7.188 to convert and burnt 1 copy with it

then i did two more copies with Nero express ver . 7.7.5.1
and made the other 2 copies

all the players are in the usa

dvd imation DVD-R /16x

please help

for one thing you are using cheep media also you should booktype your dvd's that way you should have no problems, also do the sony dvd players play DVD-R?

use better media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn NO faster than 8x

You could have run into multiple problems the way you were going from player to player. The universal player format is DVD ROM. As mentioned, booktyping DVD +R and +R DL media makes the recorded DVD compatible with more players. Early players only supported DVD ROM, then -R was added and later +R. So you can have players that support any combination of the formats. Then you get into media compatibility. Suffice to say, not all players handle all media. That's why it's best to go with a well known quality brand. They are usually compatible with the broades range of players. Keep the firmware updated, use good media, and booktype and that's about all you can do (other than following good recording technique).

Before condemning it, I'd suggest running DVD Identifier to see who made the Imation today. ;)
