Hi, i just recently downloaded DVD Decrypter in order for me to back up my DVDs sence i'm paranoid about small scratches or whatnot... in trying to backup one of my movies i keep getting the same error message at 61%.. here is my DVD Decrypter log...

I 17:07:54 DVD Decrypter Version 3.1.6.0 started!
I 17:07:54 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
W 17:07:54 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support files > 4 GB
I 17:07:54 Initialising SPTI...
I 17:07:54 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
I 17:07:54 Found 1 CD-ROM and 1 DVD+RW!
I 17:35:08 Operation Started!
I 17:35:08 Source File: C:\FINAL_DESTINATION.ISO
I 17:35:08 Source File Sectors: 3,714,158 (MODE1/2048)
I 17:35:08 Source File Size: 7,606,595,584 bytes
I 17:35:08 Destination Device: [1:1:0] _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A 1.A0 (F:)
I 17:35:09 Destination Media Type: DVD+R
I 17:35:09 Write Mode: DVD
I 17:35:09 Write Speed: MAX
I 17:35:09 Test Mode: No
I 17:35:09 BURN-Proof: Enabled
I 17:35:09 Filling Buffer...
I 17:35:12 Writing LeadIn...
I 17:35:24 Writing Image...
E 17:59:02 Failed to Write Sectors 2295104 - 2295135 - Logical Block Address out of Range
I 17:59:03 Synchronising Cache...
I 17:59:03 Closing Track...
I 17:59:03 Finalising Disc...

I'm aware that it says "W 17:07:54 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support files > 4 GB"
but i'm not even using drive D.. it's my C drive... the D drive is just because i'm using a compaq and for some reason i've noticed they make you partition your drive. either way, if someone could please help i'd be greatfull

also, when going to write the DVD, selecting the file, the manual for the Decrypter says to choose the file with the .DVD extention if you have multiple files.. well i have multiple files.. 2 of them.. but neither are .DVD one is MD5 and i'm not sure what the other one is.. i believe (by looking at the log above) that it's the .ISO, and that is what i've been selecting each time. please help

Is your C drive a FAT32 drive as well or is it NTFS?

honestly i don't know.. as i said.. i'm pretty much a newbie with everything.. how can i tell?.. i mean if it went through the trouble in that log to tell me that my d drive was fat32, then i figure it would have told me if my c drive was as well correct? i mean, i've had files larger than 4 gigs on the computer.

lol - type 'Logical Block Address out of Range' in the google search engine and see what you come up with.

ehh.. tried google and metacrawler... all the results i got either didn't apply (ie, were for other specific programs which the result would be changing something in that program) or i wasn't able to understand them, either way, i found nothing having to do with the DVD Decrypter, much less DVD's period.. alot on CD-rw.. but none of it seemed to apply; So i'm still screwed.

Its actually very similar to CD's. It could be media and or software related.

well thanks for your help anyway. i looked again and everything i found just didn't apply. even the cd-rw stuff just seemed to be related to that specific program. so i don't know.. maybe i should just try to find another program other than DVD Decrypter, it sucks Sonic My Dvd and Nero don't read the files i rip from the Decrypter, otherwise i could just use it to rip the dvd and then burn it using Nero or sonic.. i guess i'll have to find something else.. but if anyone else has any suggestions as to what my problem could be, i'm all ears

Try downloading DVD Shrink. It is also free software and it not only decrypts, but shrinks as well. It may or may not work, but it can't hurt to give it a try. Are you using Windows 98? Upgrading to XP might not hurt (more stable platform).

DVD Shrink does not burn - NO !!

Use either Nero Burning Rom or RecordNow DX.

(if using an .ISO extension it'd be best to use Nero as I dont know how RecordNow deals with ISO)

P.S. Are you on NTFS on all drives ?

my D drive is still on Fat32.. but i don't care cause i never use it.. it's just like a 4 gig partition that Compaqs make you have for their system.. i hate these computers..

i tried using Nero to burn but when i click "add files" or whateve the button is.. and it shows the files it can read, the ISO file doesn't show up, i could always just click "all files".. and it would show up.. but i don't think Nero supports it..

i have both Nero Vision Express, and it doesn't read .ISO files.. for some reason the .ISO file that was created after ripping from the Decrypter shows up as an Easy CD Creator file.. but Easy CD creator wont burn it either.. so i guess in the morning i'm gonna find DVD Shrink and try using that along with Nero vision express

Use Nero Burning Rom instead of crappy Nero Vision Express , and ISO does burn within it ... just as a data burn !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
