I just purchased the XBox 360 and am trying to connect to XBox Live. I am using a Netgear WGR614 V4 Wireless Router. I have contacted Xbox tech support. Their suggestion was to call Netgear and have 3 ports opened. I am still waiting for Netgear to contact me. Any suggestions?
search on google, i am sure you can find what ports to forward... try "WGR614 V4 xbox live ports" im sure you can find something
EDIT- i found this, it should help:
Quote: .:: Giving Your Xbox 360 a Static IP address ::.
Great, now you have a Static IP set up for your computer. Now for your Xbox 360 (credit for Xbox 360 IP goes to http://live.tommccann.net/
Step 1: On the Xbox 360 Dashboard, go to your Settings Blade, then select Network Settings, and then select Edit Settings.
Step 2: Select IP Settings, and enter the following information (based on your router)
Linksys
IP Address : 192.168.1.250
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 192.168.1.1
D-Link
IP Address : 192.168.0.250
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.0.1.
DNS : 192.168.0.1
Netgear
IP Address : 192.168.0.250
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.0.1
DNS : 192.168.0.1
Now select the DNS settings, and enter the DNS settings listed above. After, that it should ask you if you want to test connections. Do that, and then save. Don?t worry if you NAT settings still doesn?t read OPEN. We aren?t done yet.
.:: Port Forwarding ::.
Now for the fun part. It also happens to be the most important part. Forwarding the ports. First, I will explain how to do it in a vague way. If you sort - of know your stuff already, you shouldn?t have problem.
First, go to your router settings, and go to the forwarding menu. While in the that menu, enable the following ports to be forwarded.
88 UDP
2074 TCP and UDP
3074 TCP and UDP
Two things. One, make sure they are being forwarded to your Xbox 360?s IP address. Two, make sure you have the correct protocols selected. If you only have the option to enable one or the other, then use TCP for ports 2074 and 3074. If you can use both, then go ahead and use both. It may or may not make difference.
Thank you for the info. I was able to set the IP Address, Subnet, Gateway and DNS, but when I go into my router's forwarding menu, I see nothing where I can enable the 3 ports you listed. I'll keep trying.
your the pimp shit og. THis work completley for mine. I just setup a vnc server and in doing this I had to changed my network to static. I just needed the port numbers for the xbox. I use the WGR614v6 but i know v4 will work.
