Lately, my computer doesn't even recognize any Sony dvd's. I have tried at least 10 different programs and not one works. I have tried dvdfab, decrypter, AnyDVD, CloneDVD, DVD Shrink, DVDIdle, ripit4me and some others. I have always been using DVDIdle and decrypter without a problem till now. Only one recognises that there is even a dvd in the drive. Is there anyway around this that anyone knows of??

thanks

I probably could have stated it a bit clearer too. I have been trying Stranger Then Fiction lately. I also tried Marie Antoinette, Click and a couple of others. Decrypter is the only thing recognising that there is something in my drive but it comes up with incompatible medium.
I can't even watch the movies on my computer. When I click on drive d in my computer it states that there is no disc in the drive. All other dvd's seem to be okay.

If you have ripit4me up to date, then it will do those movies. AnyDVD and CloneDVD should work also. Are you leaving the dvd in the drive long enough?

I have tried the three you mentioned. Ripit4 me keeps saying waiting for drive to be ready. I have also let the dvd in for up to 10 minutes. Most of the time the little yellow light on the front of the drive keeps flashing then after a few minutes it stops. I have tried the programs while the light has been flashing and after it stops.
I have the latest (1.7.0.0) of ripit4me. I have also just downloaded the lastest versions of AnyDVD, CloneDVD, fab, etc. Nothing is recognizing these dvd's. All the other company's dvd are fine though

I just left the dvd in my drive for just over 40 minutes...it is still trying to load up. AnyDVD has been disabled on the drive, CloneDVD gives me this code File 0 D:/VIDEO_TS.IFO 21. Decrypter still says incompatible medium and according to my computer there is no disc in my drive.
I am using a sony dvd dru-530a burner that is still working fine on all other dvd's and cd's except the new sony movies.

DVDFab 3086 will read all the new sonys out.

Im not sure this will help, but try re-installing the drivers for ur burner, meaning uninstall them, then restart ur PC.

Also what is ur firmware?

Is it every Sony dvds or just one?

I had the same problem as fuzzyt. I put Casino Royal in my computer and my computer did not recognize anything in the drives. Then nothing i put in the drives would work. Tried four dvds.. Rebooted twice in this exercise. I then put in a data cd with pictures on it. It loaded rite up. Put My Super ex Girlfriend in and it loaded up and worked. Went back to try Casino Royal and again, nothing is seen in the drive....
Not given up yet..but ran out of time working on it.
Try putting in a cd data disk and then go back to dvds and see if your drive picks back up.

Turn off AnyDVD or DVD43 and then see if those Sony discs are recognized?

Of that bunch I did Casino Royale with RipIt4Me. It took a bit longer than some releases, 28 minutes. There were a lot of bogus files to be cleaned up though. Not a problem and I did a Full DVD backup.

Strange the movies won't play in your player programs. What program are you using? Decryption and copy protection aren't supposed to effect playability, just prevent recording. So far none of the studioes have perfected a protection that can't be bypassed.

This situation is a curious one, but it's not a common problem. Most people are getting these releases done without problems.

I was having the same problem you are. I found something that works
with my computer. If you have AnyDVD shut it off. Then before you
put a disc in your DVD player-writer open Nero Showtime. Then insert
the disc and let it start to play. Then exit from Nero Showtime
leaving the disc in. Now open RipIt4Me and it will recognize the
disc. Don't have the foggiest why this works, but it does.

I always Play the movie first with VLC media player.Skip all the way to the end of the movie. Then the drives recognizes the movie.Just open directory, even if its empty,it will open.

That's an old trick I heard of a few years back for getting XCopy to recognize a DVD. It has a chance of working with any program not recognizing a DVD. That is as long as the player software will recognize the disc.
