Have you tried the latest beta version of RipIt4Me? It works.

Beta version of Ripit4me is not necessary...1.7.0.0 worked just fine for me.

hey, i just started the process..first time...i'm used to using DVD Shrink..but what did i just notice? (by the way dvdshrink wont work even if you have AnyDVD 6.1.32) but if you right click on the tray icon of AnyDVD it now.. RIPS THE DVD to your drive..that's a solution for now. i'll see if then, dvdshrink will be able to compress the saved files..if not i'll just use the dual layer dvd burner and it'll be fine.

I tried as well but the dvd does not work very well. It is possible that this movie may need to be copied to a dual layered dvd. My guess is that due to the high compression quality is compromised.
Just my opinion.

I backed up movie + menus at around 65% compression ratio using AEC and Advanced Analysis and it came out great, no glitches at all.

I did a backup with RipIt4Me and Shrink to transcode. I ripped in movie + menu and unchecked foreign audio and subtitles. The movie compression came out about 70% which is easily do-able using Quality Settings.
Here's bbmayo's RI4M guide:

I recommend this one because the revised version of Shrink supports burning with ImgBurn instead of the older DVD Decrypter burner ware supported by the original Shrink 3.2.

I'm a little late to the party, but I did this one last night (movie + menus) using AnyDVD and CloneDVD. No problems at all.

Yep. Late. Casino Royale is no more a problem than Saw 3 and it was taken care of last month. Slysoft was having problems, but they got AnyDVD to work with CloneDVD 2. A lot of users wish it would work with Shrink, but that may be a thing of the past with the new heavier copy protections.

I originally tried it with RipIt4Me (just for a change as I normally use AnyDVD & CloneDVD2)), and RipIt kept telling me there was no disc in my DVD-ROM. Tried it several times, including 2 reboots and trying to rip it from my burner (which I never do), but no luck. Don't know why RipIt won't recognize a movie in my DVD-ROM. Any thoughts?

Other than not having the right drive selected, I'm unsure about what would cause that problem, if your other software was working properly. I've used RipIt4Me with many of the new releases including Saw 3 and Casino Royale. I've not had a problem and not a bit of hesitation in the drives recognizing discs. Did you try playing the DVD in your player software for a minute or so before opening it in RipIt4Me?

They're good together. Slysoft suggested using CloneDVD along with AnyDVD for ripping the newer copy protections. That's even if you don't intend to use CloneDVD to transcode and burn.
I've not checked to see how many programs AnyDVD no longer works with. I know it no longer works well with Shrink. I've been told it works with Recode. But for best results, a person needs both AnyDVD and CloneDVD, about $80 depending on coupons. Ripit4Me, DVDFab Decrypter, FixVTS, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker, and ImgBurn are free. It's just a matter of preference because the free and retail are both doing a good job when used properly.

Usually after you play around with the free programs long enough you find your poison. If one free program wont work i try another and usually find a winner that will rip a dvd that my primary software cannot presently rip or transcode. The slysoft suite is great no doubt. However I personally believe the free programs can get the job done. May take a little more work, or you might need to wait a few days for an update on ripit4me, but in general the quality is the same for free vs pay. Just my opinion.

Over the past few months it's not been RipIt4Me that needed the updates as much as Slysoft and DVDIdle; as shown by the Saw 3, Region 1, problems of a month ago. At the start RipIt4Me was doing the Full DVD, movie and menu, or movie only rip for a backup. AnyDVD with CloneDVD2 needed editing to get Full DVD, but could do movie only. DVDIdle said they were stuck till they could get a copy of the Region 1 disc. About a week later both Slysoft and DVDIdle were finally up to speed. It's covered in the Saw 3 thread stickied at the top of the Shrink forum. RipIt4Me was ready to go earliest and the only thing needed was a FixVTS update to be able to count all the bogus files. The copy protection tries to make the DVD appear noncompliant to the recording software by adding a large number of bogus files.

No, I haven't tried playing it for a minute or so to start. Actually, I never thought of this. I did delete/reinstall RipIt4Me (used the AIO to reinstall), but will try it like you suggested for my next burn. Thanks.
