Quick question for you, you say you have gotten throught the entire game, which i am very envious about..heh. I have the matrix infinity chip, I have DL burner and have burned a copy using both cloneCD and Nero, both copies seem to stop halfway through the game at that large bridge after the little "grappling through the falling pillars thing". I have upgraded to the latest firmware for the matrix chip too.

any thoughts as to why this it is not loading the second layer?

thanks
oh FFS, i had the exact same problem with the first god of war and i ended up buying the game :( can you confirm this? and have you found a way round this, it's pretty annoying that it can't read the second layer, you mentioned that you upgraded to imgburn did this help with loading the second layer in god of war II? i don't like imgburn as you can't read DVD anymore, only write :(

edit: just installed imgburn and it does have read mode, hmmm.

*sigh* i don't know what to say really, i played all today and yesterday to get to chapter 5 and what do you know? it hangs right at the bridge part :( yes i have all the settings right in the matrix infinity menu, and yes i used img burn to burn the iso :( i think this will be the last time i ever buy dual layers again, they just don't work, it's not worth the effort imo.

and on top of that i have to wait for a PAL release and buy it, sad day for me right now, i bloody hate PAL games :(

I have infinity v1.2(Iguess its 2 because it isnt very clear-under the PLAYSTATION logo when it boots comes infinity v1.2)

no, the only way you will ever know if it's a clone is if you update, if you do update the modchip will not work anymore, i doubt you want to risk that?

what do mean that it's not clear? i told you version 1.45 and up support DVD9 any version under that will not support DVD9.

I mean not clear you know under the PLAYSTATION logo comes written infinity v 1.xx in small letter-thats not clear
if it is a clone it would still have an actel processor because the chip was installed way back by a friend of mine who surely will not rip me and he showed it to me it costed approx 100 dollars at that time
another thing I noted on the infinity website was that the options menu was added with the 1.3 firmware

Thats the question a clone still would have actel because mine I remember had actel processor

i'm not saying your friend is bad or anything, maybe he didn't know the chip was a clone? did he even know where he brought the chips? and if it was reliable? when my ps2 boots up i can clearly see the firmware number under the playstation logo, so i don't know what is wrong there.

it doesn't matter if the clone has the same motherboard as the real deal, it's the firmware that has been modified, if you update it will fry the chip, i've given you all the advice i can give, it's up to you want you want to do from here on, but i would recommend you do not update unless you can afford to buy another modded ps2 if you modchip goes, good luck.

edit: you may want to check out this topic to see if this helps your situation.

is it from this website?

it doesn't look very professional at all, i would question it, and yes i think it may be your tv that's why firmware number won't show, is your current tv support PAL NTSC? what connection are you using scart? component composite? it could be that aswell.

I have a debug ("test") ps2 and I was wondering what I would have to do to get the backup to work. I'm currently burning the Echelon iso with DVD Decrypter after patching it with DiscPatcher3 to Master Disk and I'm hoping that the current burn will work without any other tricks. All of my other backups work pretty much with no fuss, I can use just about any media and even burn at 8X and my PS2 still plays them as long as I've patched them to be Master Disks (or rebuilt them using Apache). Any thoughts?

updated the fw of the chip from 1.2 to 1.45 and everything is fine now even that menu when I press triangle and circle it comes now and from there I can choose DVD9

I am about to finish d/ling the Echelon release, and since Dual Layer DVD+Rs are very expensive here, I just wanted to clarify a couple of things, so that I can avoid having any coasters.

#1) I have a Duo3 modchip, and I was not able to find out whether it has OTP support or not. My friend who also needs to use this disc has a 3 year old chip(probably a clone).. but I do not know which one.

#2) Given the above point, is there any harm in doing the whole toxic patch thing? i.e. Would there be any downside to patch it even if either or both chips support OTP?

#3) It seems Imgburn is the way to go over DVD-Decrypter. Is there anything in the settings that I would need to change to burn the DL disc and this iso in particular?

#4) Could anyone point me to some proper instructions on what all I need to do w.r.t. the Toxic patch etc. ?

Pretty lame that no one replied considering the number of people who have got this to work. Anyway I (think) I got it to work... haven't reached the crucial 50% mark yet though so can't say for sure. (Anyway I am sure the next reply will be mine only).

So for the benefit of others, what I did was after unraring, I patched it with the Toxic patch. Then I followed the following instructions to burn it on a verbatim DVD+R DL.

Quote:

If you are in windows you need to download cdrtools from (you should have it in linux):
http://smithii.com/files/cdrtools-latest.zip

Extract it anywhere you prefer.

From the extracted folder run: isoinfo -d -i path-to-image
ex. isoinfo -d -i C:\e-godwr2.iso

Among all the information there will be volume size. This should be 2083888 (that is what it was for me)

The volume size is your layer break.

Open up ImgBurn (works with wine under linux).

Browse for the file.

Under tools->settings write, select user specified layer break and enter the volume size number (2083888) and hit ok.

Burn and enjoy.

I received the ECHELON ver. of the .iso and have gotten unusual files(to me at least)that resemble .nfo files.
for instance...
files would come up, e-godwr2.001,e-godwr2.002, etc. i joined the files as is common with these but all i got was a combined file with the same nfo image displaying E-GODWR2.xxx. Somebody please help! What am i missing?

just passed the icarus part...... Echelon with Toxic patch works!!! (though with a little freeze framing that could probably be attributed to my sh*tty ps2).
