How to burn to DVD?

I have converted an Xvid to MPG with TMPGEnc.
I have converted it to DVD format.
but how do I burn it so that I can watch it on my standalone DVD player? I tried using nero and it gives me error saying "DVD compliance test failed"

How do I do it? I am not even sure if I did it properly.

You need to take all of those files, and put them into a folder called VIDEO_TS (spelled exactly as I have it there.) Then burn that folder to disc.
