It all depends on the media you have. If you only have 2X media, you can only burn at 2X. What media do you have? If you want faster, you have to pay for it. I wouldn't recommend trying it at 12X, because it may not work properly. You can always rely on quality at a slower burn speed.

Use AnyDVD for the DVD Decryption. This will speed your drives access times and speed. I use AnyDVD in conjunction with DVD Decrypter and get upto 10X with 4x media, over 50 copies and not one coaster.

Use DVD Shrink instead of Decrypter. It will not only decrypt, but shrink to fit too. It will go as fast as your system and media will allow.

Buy a seperate dvdrom.......

Dvd rewriters will not rip fster than a normal dvd rom, and also it will preserve the writer for writing and not get hammered for reading....

You don't need to buy another DVD rom as the writers speed are near to that of a rom drive. As for AnyDVD, yes you can use it concurrently with DVD Decrypter. Worth doing as AnyDVD has better decryption plus you can remove prohibited user warnning (FBI,etc) when ripping.

media does matter though. If it is a backup copy and is not the best media, 2x will be as fast as it will rip.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Koola.

I was just suggesting to buy a seperate dvdrom - because ripping at FAST speeds with your writer hammers the laser pickup - and therefore will degrade the writer.....!!!!

Expensive way of ripping dvd's, and expensive to replace - whereas you can pick up a dvd rom dead cheap and WILL last longer at ripping, rather than hammering the writer to do the same job......

Not arguing with you, this is just MY own experience which I thought I would add....cheers

Thanks Baabaa, you are probs right if he wants to rip DVD's alot as a DVD rom will cost less money when it goes wrong.

Good advice :)
