Is the sound always ahead of the video by 5 seconds or does it change? If it is always ahead by five secoonds you can just do a slight adjustment and have a juryrigged copy that works

You can fix this with virtualdubmod.
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_4_1_All_inclusive.zip?download
Load movie in virtualdubmod.
Go to streams menu, click stream list.
Right click audio file and select Intereleaving.
Fix audio by changing values under audio skew correction.
We are working with milliseconds here so
1000ms =1 second.
Audio desynch is 5 seconds so 5 x 1000 =5000
Enter 5000.
Remember: if the audio is playing too late use negative values.
if audio is playing too early use positive.
Go into video menu and select Direct Stream Copy.
Save AVI.
Hope you can understand this mumbo jumbo :-)

Nope I dont have msn.
Thats why i said to make a backup copy...You might get some corrupt files.
Ok since avi fixed doesnt work for you, we'll try this method: resynching the audio file.(we'll be using vdubmod for this)
Load movie in virtualdubmod.
Go to streams menu, click stream list.
Demux the audio.
Disable the original audio file.
Click add and select the audio file you demuxed.
Go into video menu and select Direct Stream Copy.
Save AVI.
------------------------------------------------
If this doesnt work then you might want to try this:
Load video into virtualdubmod
Select Direct Stream Copy in Video menu, then select Framerate.
Select "Change so video and audio durations match."
Save Avi.
Hopefully one of these two methods will work, if not then you will have to manually synch the audio by changing the framerate, which can take a while...
Good Luck.

that didnt work either :(
maybe if i explain everything u would have a better idea on wat i should do
ok the movie i downloaded was 8 mile.. and i wanted to burn it to cd, but its too big to fit on 1 cd so i went around finding how i can split it, and i stumbled across this site which said u need to do with VirtualDub, so i split with VirtualDub but when i did the audio was messed up, so i tried ur suggestions but they didnt work, and when u told me to Demux u mean the split file right? not the original 8 mile i downloaded which has no probs..
thanks for all the help neway

Do you still have the original file?
When you loaded into VirtualDub, did a warning pop up about having an improper vbr stream?

Great! Now we know the source of your problem.
If you want to keep the vbr mp3 stream, use virtualdubmod to split the file and when the warning pops up, select No. If that doesnt work then youll have to recompress the audio stream using the cbr method.

I have the similar problem but:
1-My movie is ok when played on my PC
2-When played on my DVD/DIVX KISS DP-450
player i have the same problem between
audio and video synchro.
My question is:
It's really the same problem?
Thank everybody

Maybe the problem occured during the burning process...Try burning at a lower speed.
Im not familiar with standalone divx players but Ive heard that they have trouble playing movies encoded with the divx 3.11 codec. So that might be your problem. Look for any firmware updates for your player.
