Yeah i could but ill prolly just buy the 120gb....But the xbox360 elite is a nice deal though the 120 gb itself is 180$ so right there the 479.00$ is a deal its only 80$ more then the premium..

I disagree. While we all would like to have an official black xbox with HDMI and a 120 GIG HDD, it's not gonna happen for me. I paid $399 for both my 360's and I still have 12.6 GB left on my HDD and 13.3 on my son's. I'd rather download my movies, ect... for free via my 8MB/s cable connection than sit through the slow as snails live downloads.
My TV also accepts 1080p component connections and it's running at 1080p as we speak so no need for HDMI anyway for me (but I do admit, I'd like to have it)

The facts in my eyes are this. Microsoft should allow you to buy any 2.5in SATA drive and install it without having to pay their outrageous price for a simple 120GB. I can get a 500 GB for that price around here locally, so I'm sure you can find better deals online.

I love my 360 but they are indeed trying to show people the 360 and the ps3 are similar (HDMI, ect..) but it's feeling like a stab in my chest that they are pricing this so high.

If I were Microsoft, I'd do this.
360 Elite - $399.99
360 Premium - $329.99
360 Core - $249.99

That'd put them well ahead of the ps2 in price vs. features (without built in HD-DVD anyway) and also match the Wii's price point.
I'd take the 20 Gig off the market after I liquidated all the remaining stock at $49.99 and sell the 120Gig for $99.99

Tell me if this makes any sense or am I the only one crazy. Microsoft, you have all the money and all the online superiority you could ever want. Give us blue-collar guys a chance.

Edit - Not to mention these elites will end up with the BENQ drive which there is no current firmware hack for. I bet they digitally signed the firmware this time.

i agree with menace very much so, this is ridiculous, i bought my 360 at christmas, and now they have something new out, i really never saw this coming.

They are trying too hard to compete and they are forgetting the customers. We all have to work to get money, unless your a young child who's parents have to work for the money to buy this stuff. Not to mention the games are 60 bucks each, they are really going overboard with this thing, prices like this plus the extra 200 for HD DVD is making me think ps3 isnt too bad

I'll stick with my nicely modded unit! I would rahter have a separate standalone player for HD movies rather then overuse my xbox with movies - the thing already gets too hot after a few hours of gaming!

If MS added the HD-DVD Drive that would have bumped the price up PS3 level or higher and they certainly didn't want to do that. I don't have a TV that takes HDMI, but since these are supposedly limited edition I may grab one so I can have HDMI down the road. Still I'd think anyone who recently bought a 360 or hard drive would be a little pissed right now.

The link said "Xbox 360 Elite: new, black limited edition Xbox with HDMI and 120GB drive". Was that not accurate or did they mean black was a limited edition color?

Source= http://on10.net/Blogs/tina/exclusive-vid...the-xbox-elite/ has video of it..

While everyone else is talking about it and showing grainy camera phone pictures from undisclosed bunkers, we thought we?d go right to the source and get you an exclusive video. You think you need it, you know you want it, and we have it ? the Xbox 360 Elite. I sat down with Albert Penello to get some of your questions answered. Yes, it has HDMI & 120GB hard drive. No, it doesn?t have an HD-DVD player. Yes you can still pull audio separate from the HDMI. No, it isn?t going to be a limited edition. Yes, it?s awesome! Watch the video for more, including what comes in the L337 box.

Well, the only thing that makes me mad is that Microsoft expects everyone to run out and buy their products when they launch. This makes the company look good. So everyone goes out between the release time and now, saves the money, gets their 360 and is repaid buy Microsoft with a new improved console that they would have to shell out anouth $500 to get. And the price on the hard drive by itself is outrageous! Don't worry though, I am 100% sure that there will be a way in the near future to fix that little problem.

Me personally, i will stick with mine. I am running 1080i through the VGA cable and the picture is perfect, so i am not missing much.
I already own an upconverting DVD player, the hard drive can not store and play games, unless of course you buy them on live, So more space is no big draw for me either. Plus the scary fact that know one knows which DVD drive these will have an if it can be flashed.

I think it is a nice looking system, and i really hope the upgrades made to the chipset and cooling are worth the extra money. But i will pass on that one....for now.
