shumway04,
You can if you want to rip the DVD to the HD using the AnyDVD ripper. Then you have to run either FixVTS or VobBlanker to correct the structure problems. Now you can open it in Shrink. DVDFAB Dec. and Ripit4Me will also do this DVD

Really? Hmmm thats wierd I didn't need to run this one threw FixVTS like I have with others and it still works perfect. I didn't think this one had any structure problems, but maybe I just got lucky :-)

I tried it with both Fabdvd Decryter and AnyDVD on three different computers and it bombed out at around 45 percent on both programs on all three computers.

I think you might have a bad original. Give this guide a try Pacman777 guide if that doesnt work then you may need to exchange your original or clean it good.

Ok I'm going to try to use the any dvd ripper then save it to my hard drive and see what happens. I haven't had any luck with this one all the other ones are fine. Even Saw III didn't give me this much of a problem. This Rocky is really a challenge:-)

Actually there really isn't any thing all that special with this one that I could see. You may just have a bad original if you used the latest version of FAB Decrypter found Here and it still didn't work then I would say it is a bad disc.

RipIt4Me 1.7 + VTS 1.6.0.3 + Shrink + DVD Decrypter did the trick for me.

DVDFAB worked fine for me. Another plus is movie only mode fits uncompressed on a single-layer dvd. :)

i backed this movie up first with dvdfab plat, copied to disc and wouldnt play in 2 dvd players. used ripit4me and noticed this come up in the log:
"I 13:18:09: NOTE: Trapped OnAutoPlay message!
This prevents any Autorun.inf from running automatically."
I copied this movie and still wouldnt play in either dvd players so i backed up just the main movie using shrink and it plays no problems!
can anyone tell me if the problem i am encountering is because of this auto run message and if so, how can i remove it?

You can do a scan of the DVD to see if you find a block of bad sectors. A DVD with a faulty press can sometimes play perfect, but won't record. When I suspect such a problem, I do the scan to confirm or eliminate the possibility. Nero has a program in tools and a bunch of drive programs such as Plextools have a scan utility. The freeware DVDInfoPro also has the capability.

@chewbkka,
Glad to see you got it worked out good things come to those that are patient ;-)
If you want the process to go a little faster you could do this combination.
1)Rip to HD with DVDFab Decrypter
2)Run Files threw FixVTS
3)Shrink
4)Burn with ImageBurn or Decrypter
That will work a little faster than RipIt4Me with usually the same results. If you haven't noticed FixVTS is the big player here ;-)

I think I'll stick with the RI4M. It's proven itself. Plus it does more than just run FixVTS for cleanup and compliance. I'll have to time DVDFab and running the files through FixVTS compared to just running RI4M.

I tried to back up Rocky Balboa using DVDFab and then VobBlanker and then shrink; I noticed that during the backing up using just the main movie, the image would periodically pause, and then start again. Below is the information I got when I tried to burn using Nero (auto) with Shrink. Your help is appreciated.
