It runs fine on my hdd but on the proper fmv sequences the sound slightly stutters. Is there any reason for this?

Is the disc scratched. or is your ps2 old like needs to be cleaned. do other games work if not then its either your ps2 or your dvd drive.

This is a known problem with FFXII on HDD. It has not been solved.

I think there is a PS2 movie reader floating around somewhere. So it's possible, I think, to get the FMVs on your computer, even if it's just to be able to watch them without stutters.
