Guide: Freeing up 1MB on your PSP 3.03 OE-C flash0 safly

Welcome to my second guide. This is a very basic & safe guide for freeing up 1MB on your flash0. Please follow all instructions and refer to the FAQ and Reminders section at the bottem. Only use this on 3.03 OE-C. This guide is useful for people wanting to add more custom stuff to there PSP's, such as custom XMB themes and gameboots.
1. First download this http://dl.qj.net/GTA-Cheat-Device-Pack-3...13251/catid/171
2. Extract it and copy the PSP folder on to the root of your memory stick, overwrite etc.
3. Disconnect your PSP and go to Game, on your memory stick and run the cheat device.
4. Now install either the one for GTA LCS or VCS, but not both.
5. All done, now you have an extra 1MB on your flash0.

Q: Will this brick my PSP?
A: NO not even a chance, as all it does is overwrite the useless 1MB of font on your PSP flash0.
Q: Will this work on TA-082?
A: It will work on any motherboard, including the TA-082.
Q: Will this work on 3.03 OE-A,B or 3.10 OE-A/A'?
A: NO i do not recommened attempting to install it on these firmwares as it will semi or pernamently brick your PSP. ONLY do it on 3.03 OE-C, thats what it is built to run for.
Q: I don't want the GTA cheats, can i just delete the device after?
A: Yes
Q: Will deleting the device bring back that 1MB font file?
A: No, it will stay at 0KB.
Q: Will upgrading to a higher firmware such as 3.10 OE-A bring back the 1MB font file?
A: No it should stay at 0kb, but i don't know anyone who's tested it. But even if it does bring back the 1mb font it won't brick your PSP to upgrade. Once someone posts that it either keeps or makes the 1mb font 0kb upon upgrading then i will add it. It should NOT bring back the 1mb of font though.
REMINDERS///
ONLY use this on 3.03 OE-C. DO not install it on any other firmware.
Do not install both cheat devices or your GTA games will have no sound.
Only install 1 at a time, you can uninstall them from the same menu.

i think too,,,but can i delete now the folder that i pasted in on my psp? did you tried it deleting it? and what happens? thanx again man!

The cheat device folder? Yeah you can get rid of that.

I'm not really interested in the GTA cheats but would like the extra 1MB. so if I install then delete will that still clear the 1MB font space?

I read the guide on freeing up 2.5 MB but i didn't want to take my chances at the time being. I guess I made this guide since there isn't even a slight chance of bricking your PSP. Though i guess if you backed up your Flash0, freeing up 2.5 MB would be safe anyway.

that link that i posted is still safe as it does the exact same thing yours does - dummy all the unneccessary font files :P

I must of read a different one then that did the same thing but it said there was a 60% of pernament brick.. I can't remember where i read it though.

Used paul91's link, made notepad file as tute says and replaced bwfon file and got semi brick :( went into recovery and put original bwfon file back and everthing was fine. Used GTA cheat device, installed then uninstalled and it worked a treat zeroed bwfon file. I then used paul91's link again to remove camera prx & rco and it also worked ok. Camera icon does show but does nothing. Managed to free up about 1.2MB :)

If I delete the CheatDevice after ussing it and upgrade to a different CFW. Is it still at 0kb and not brick my PSP at a different CFW.

Well you need to be 3.03 OE-C to run the device and make the font file 0kb, so upgrading to 3.10 OE-A shouldn't be a problem. It will only brick your PSP if you install it on a firmware other then 3.03 OE-C.

Hey
I just checked
The total disk space for flash0 is something like 24mb
And i only have 386kb left of free space..
Will this lead to bricking when flashing a new custom firmware?

I couldn't tell you, im guessing no, since the custom firmware isn't like a sony update where it updates everything so, your probably better off installing the 1.50 recovery then upgrade to your new custom firmware.

If you want to free up space:
~take Itn0.pgf and copy it to your desktop.
~Rename it as the .bwfon file and as jpn0.pgf
~overwrite the originals and thats 2.5 mb saved.
PSP Life: TA-082 2.5 -> 2.71 -> 1.5 -> 3.03 OE-C (Semi brick) -> 1.5 -> 3.03 OE-C -> 1.5 -> 3.03 OE-C -> 3.30 OE-A -> 3.03 OE-C -> 3.30 OE-A -> 3.30 OE-A' -> 3.03 OE-C =D

good guide ;), you should post something say that if you too scared to delete the files yourself, use an application to do it. theres an older version of flash agent that frees up to 2mb. you dont have to post it but im just saying ;), oh and i have the link if you want it.

Just install the 1.50 Recovery. And you should take that e-mail out before the mods see it or you will get banned. Temporarily im most cases.

hey man thanks i could only have small like 190kb gameboots and this let me use a bigget one over 500kb so again thanks for solving this problem for me
